My names are Partson Mudenda and I'm 49 years old
I grew up in a village in Choma district Southern province, in Zambia
I have been brought up with a farming background, and we treasured livestock much than crop production in my village.
Among prominent animals we keep goats have proved to a very good income earner and a source of proteins in our rural setup.
I have inspired to put up a sustainable goat farming practices as it is already evident from the small numbers we are keeping.
Currently am involved in gardening as vegetable production is so profitable due to the drought which has hit the southern part of Zambia in the previous rain season.
From the vegetable production am are able to feed my family and the surplus its taken to the market for some income.
First and foremost I want to thank my lenders for the assistance they have rendered to my family as this has improved our goat breeding project sustainably. The manure from the goat house has continued helping us in our vegetable garden. The nutrition aspect at household level has tremendously improved.
From the money we recently received we managed to buy 7 female goats
As a family we are still focusing on increasing the numbers of female goats to a level where we will have 200+ female goats.
when we shall reach an extent of borrowing about K15,000.00 we are going to buy the pure boer male goats to improve on the the breed as currently we are using the 75% male crosses.
The off-springs are improved and individuals farmers are coming to project requesting to buy the 50% crosses we are producing as a project. The future is brighter for this project because the local market for the young goats as well as the matured is very good.
