About Me

My name is Janet Jepkoech Tallam. I am the fourth born in a family of eight, two boys and six girls. I was born on 6-3-1979 at Kabartonjo. I lost my father while still at the primary school level, and from then on life became difficult, as he was the sole breadwinner in the family. Then I struggled through high school and I lost my mother. I had to drop out of school because of school fees challenges, plus I was among the eldest and the young ones needed my support. We have been going through so many hardships, but at least some of my siblings completed school through help from relatives and bursaries.

I am a single mother of three, two boys, one who will sit for KCPE examinations and another who is in lower primary level. My only daughter will do KCPE next year. I want to take my son to a boarding school so that he will be able to do well in his final exams. My children are my only source of hope and I strongly believe that they will one day achieve my childhood dream.

My Business

I am basically a market woman. I sell tomatoes, vegetables, onions, potatoes, etc. as a form of livelihood. The goods I sell are very important and are in very high demand, plus I have been in the business for so long that I have my regular customers who always promote me.

In the market we are required to have a licence, which costs about $12 and is renewed annually. I make a weekly profit of about $60 a month, which I use to pay rent and make sure my kids are well-clothed, and I also pay for milk which I bill.

Loan Proposal

Hello lenders,I feel great to have completed paying my loan in time.I would like to apply for a third loan now and will be greatful for your support.I will use this loan to purchase grains which will include maize, beans, wheat, rice and others.I will sell them alongiside my other business.100 kgs of maize goes for about 90 dollar and I will make a profit of about 45 dollars in each sack I sell.I will use the profit to further expand my business and I also intend to move to a bigger house which has electricity in hopefully 3 months time.Thank you in advance and God bless you so much.
