About Me

My name is Christine Mbinga, I sat for my fourth form in 2013. I am a mother of one daughter but stays with two children who are my immediate cousins this is so because they have been staying with their mother but she find it difficult in raising them so i had to chip in to make their future bright. I had been just a house wife when i found it difficult on depending on people so i decided to find a place and with the help of relatives i managed to start my own business of selling bevarages and shoes especially for ladies..
This side of the country climate is always favourable and we really thank God for that, Although my daughter is still young but i would like her to be a nurse when she grows up or else she has her own thoughts. My hobby is listening to music and offering help to people where i can.

My Business

I sell bevarages like sodas, water, minute maids, Novidas etc. They are on demand because most of people in Kenya here especially those with short time during lunch they take them as quick lunches and go back to work. The capital for starting it was not much, it was Kenya Shillings 15000 which i managed to raise from relatives. After selling I usually make sure that I only use half of the profit and save the other half so that I may be able to add stock. On the other hand I also manage to sell shoes for ladies this is so because I don't want to depend on bevarages alone.

Project Proposal

I will add stock to my business and Iam also planning to start a baby shop very soon because I refer many of my clients to baby shops near me which sometimes is not okay with them

Jambo Christine, I am James, a lender on Zidisha. It is good that you have your own business. Does your husband also have a business? You sell beverages, and sell womens shoes too. Well that is 2 things you sell. You said that you do not want to depend on beverages alone, and that is wise thinking. You seem to be focusing more on womens footwear so you might consider also selling other womens items, like socks, purses, scarves, underwear, etc. The more items you have to sell the more sales you will get. Perhaps make your store into a womens store, or make it into a shoe store that sells mens shoes too. Of course shoes for girl and boy teens too.Think of it Christine, how many boys and men pass your store every day? How many of them are wearing shoes? Males need shoes too. They either buy their shoes from your store or another store. Would you like to have their business? You could make your store into a shoe store, which also sells the womens items I told you about, and beverages. I know it takes time and money to do all this but just do a little at a time, like you adding the womens sandals. It is good that you keep reinvesting in your business so it can grow. Have a plan of what to stock next. Set a goal. If you don't have a name for your shoe store, you could name it "Happy Feet Shoes". Everybody wants happy feeling feet if you know what I mean. At some point in time you might even offer a foot bath service. By the way, do you have a phone number, I could communicate with you faster. I suppose you use Safaricom too. By the way, I have a Kenyan daughter named Christine. I have been to Kenya 3 times and have many sons and daughters all over Kenya. Take care, write soon, and keep on keeping on. James
