About Me

My name is David Okubasu. I work at construction industry as a skilled worker, I run a small hardware store and I am a small scale farmer. I am married with three children.
I was born in a humble background with a lot of hardship which were escalated further by the deaths of my parents when I was at the age of 10. Through difficulties I managed to get through primary and secondary education.
After my secondary education I joined the informal sector since I had no one to sponsor my college education. I worked in farms and construction sites doing menial jobs, and later became a successful skilled worker in block laying, ceramic/pvc tiles laying and welding.
At my free time I make it to visit children's homes perhaps to give them hope that there is always a way in life to make it to beat the odds.

My Business

Hardware Store: My experience in life has driven me to dreaming bigger and starting small to attain a certain goal. In 2016, I saw an opportunity and decided to start a small business in line with my duty of work. I started a small hardware store which I provided the market for, supplying building materials in the construction sites I worked. I experienced a significant growth of an estimated rate of between 20%-25%pa, until when the Covid 19 pandemic came in. Since then I have been working on the measures to ensure that my business stands again on its feet, and thanks to ZIDISHA COMMUNITY for being there for me for financial support. With you I know I will get to the greater heights.

Project Proposal

Currently the available stock stands at Kshs. 131,950.00. The projected amount to fully fund the project is Kshs 604,430.00. If I deduct the available amount, then the amount needed to fully fund the project is Kshs 472,480.00. Now, given the bulkiness of the amount required to find the business, I have decided to divide it into five years each year bringing a total of Kshs 94,496.00.
The amount for the first year commencing June 1st, 2022, I intend to pay out as follows:
Rent..... ..........Kshs 8,000.00
Licenses ....... Kshs 12,000.00
Amenities...... Kshs 3,000.00
Salary/misc....Kshs 20,000.00
Stock ............. Kshs 51,496.00
