About Me

my name is Mary Mathenge and a resident of Nakuru.l have eight children but only two are surviving and have seven brothers.being the only girl child in my family, life was a struggle between me and my brothers as the girl child was not highly valued according to the kikuyu traditions during my time. this is because l had to drop out of school and get married so as to bring wealth to our family.my father preferred to educate my brothers and left me to take care of house holds chores with my mother until l got married.And after bringing up my children with so many challenges because my my marriage did not work l had to get a way of earning a living so as to support my children.l started buying goats and selling them at a profit but later transformed the business to a butchery since it was more profitable up to date.l use my income to support my grandchildren who l live with and take care of my aging mother.

My Business

my business is located in Nakuru town and l mostly deal with selling of goat meat to the hotels in Nakuru town.l buy the goats from the Mogotio and Kabarnet area where they are cheap and slaughter them for meat.on average l make a profit of ks 3,000 per goat and l sell like 30 goats per month. This gives me an average profit of 40,000 per month after deducting the expenses.l supply most of the hotels in town with the meat this is because l have loyal customers who have done business with them for over 30 years.Although the competition is high here in Nakuru l make sure that my prices are relatively cheap so as to maintain the customers and attract more.If advanced with the loan l will be able to buy more goats hence meeting the demand of my customers.
