My Name are John Maoto, a resident of likoni, currently persueing a diploma in Business administration at AIRADS(African Institute of Research and development Studies Mombasa campus).I went through my secondary school in Jambo Jipya high school mariakani. Am the Third born in my family. My family is struggling to pay for my college fees. This has prompted me to start a part time job to alleviate them from my fees burden. I decided to start a part time job of selling school and travel bugs which my mum has been selling since i was a kid, I spent most of my time at her shop and learn more about the business. Since i began this business am able to pay for my house and small pocket money is left for me up keep. The local community are happy because they don't have to travel long distance to the market centers to buy school and travel bags. This has built a social status among my community which has positive attribute to my quality of supplies.
I sell school bugs and travel bags too to Likoni residence. Although i saved a bit of my pocket money to start this business. i have made a difference in my community who used to travel to Mombasa island to purchase similar bags. I always attend my classes from 8;00 a to 4:00 PM the come home and open my shop until 7:30 PM, This is the best Time as most of the local residence who work at town are usually back at home from their daily cores. Although my capital is small i usually try to server the demand by asking for pre-payment and when i cross the ferry to Mombasa island i go to my suppler and purchase the stock. I have created confidence in them and that is the core pillar in my success of this business. I believe when i finish the college i will continue with these business and expand it to other towns. Selling of My stock at a profit is my basic source of income. My expenses include shop rent and buying of stock for sale. All the profit i get though small is helping me in my up keep and i believe when m
I would like to expand my business with more stock especially now that i will be on my college vacation.By stocking my shop with the KES 17916(usd 200) i will be able to offer a wide viraity of bags, suite case, college bag, my first bag especially when december come. This is a high sale season as my people travel and prepare for new year back to school for their children. This will double my current monthly profit from KES 3000 to KES 6000. I need to make more saving for my next semister and help my family in paying for my college fees.
