I am a health advocate determined to help bring good health to the underprivileged poor.
I was born and bred on a British Diamond mine located in the Eastern Region of Ghana called Akwatia; way back in the sixties. My Father was a supervisor in the prospecting department. Life back then as a child was quite comfortable but exciting. The company which called C.A.S.T.( Consolidated African Selection Trust Ltd.) at the time had its own poultry farm, vegetable farm and a big orchard with various fruits. And the produce was sold in a cold store for workers. There was also a provision store with products like canned foods, beverages, grains etc.; all subsided to meet the pocket of workers. Food was in abundance. The managers of the company did a very good job keeping workers happy.
As children we made friends with white boys who came on holidays from Britain. We taught them how to prepare our foods and also went on fishing expeditions with them. But I also remember there were areas on the mine where no junior workers and their families who were all black were not allowed to visit and sometimes we are chased away from these demarcated areas by company security men.
I grew up to become a great caddie and had several great master golfers like Mr. Dinham, Mr. Reed, Mr. Hericourt , Mr. Cox and Mr. Dean; an obese Chief security officer who made the security win every tug of war game on the on the mine.
My woes started when my parents divorced.
My business provides herbal medicine and personal health record keeping.
At present, I am running my business from my home with simple equipment. I registered the business as an enterprise by name Deseret Herbary, last year. My product is called Vita Tea.
The desire for Vita Tea has become much more than I expected, and I would like to expand my business.
Presently I engage in the direct sales of Vita Tea to church members, friends and families, and market women. I look forward to a couple of customers to whom I can supply in bulk.
Vita Tea is basically moringa and other leaves with vital nutrients, (that has been roasted and blended together to help prevent disease, ease stress, induce sleep, improve male sexual malfunction, as well as cure Typhoid fever) packaged as a herbal dietary supplement. Vita Tea does not taste bitter even after long brew time and can be served just as other tea beverages. Customers will continue to value and patronize Vita Tea because of its effectiveness to many kinds of illnesses through its rare power. It is good for all people at all times.
Raw materials for the product is cheap and available all year round. The cost of producing a jar of 75g. is about GHC 2.00 ; wholesaled for GHC 8.00 and retailed for GHC 10.00
As ‘Copy Cat’ is the number one risk to this business, I am leaving no stone unturned in making secrecy and confidentiality my number one rule.
I believe I can create a smoothly run business that would give substantial financial benefit, if I had the resources to put up a standard small-building manufacturing facility having simple equipment such as ovens, stoves, heat blowers, grinding machine and weighing scales.
The profits from the Vita Tea venture is reinvented into the personal health record keeping programme.
I need this loan to pay for 25 kilos of dry leaves worth 100ghc, 150ghc for lables and 16ghc for transportation so I can produce 500 jars of vita tea.
