About Me

I am Mary Nduta Michika, a resident of Kiptangwanyi. I reside in a village called Ngecha. This village is to the south of Kiptangwanyi shopping center. My home is about 1kilometer from the shopping center. I have been in this area for long and thus am very conversant with it. I am married and living with my husband and children who are in school at our plot which is plot number 604. My children attend a local public school at the center. This is a day school which means that they go home everyday. I am so much focused in ensuring that my children get the best in school and this makes me work very hard both in my farm and in my business. I usually sell clothes at the market. This happens during the market days. We have two market days at the shopping center. These are Wednesdays and Saturdays. During these two days I usually take my stock of clothes to the open market. After securing a place at the market I sell the clothes up to the evening. During the other days when it is not market day, I usually attend to my farm where I have grown vegetable.

My Business

My business entails selling of clothes at the shopping center. I dont have a shop where I can be selling them daily at the center. This has prompted me to be selling them only only during the market days of Wednesday and Saturdays. This is challenging because when there are other functions or the weather is bad then I do not get many customers buying from my business. I get my supplies from wholesalers at Nakuru town. During the holidays that is April, August and December, the business is usually very good and I get good revenues. My farm supplements me as I am able to produce vegetables and other foodstuffs for my family. This reduces the cost of buying food for my family. I intend to rent a house at the shopping center so that my business would be open daily. The main challenges that this business encounter are lack of enough funds to expand the business, and also drought which reduces the consumers purchasing power. I know that this loan from Zidisha organization will be of great importance for my business.
