A town which has been developing very fast in fact its the leading town in Economy and development in Kenya where i am the only person operating a Branded taxi cab service in the wide Ongata Rongai area. My cab is branded Ongata rongai cabs .and the business has shown high potential of growth and so far i am planning on expansion. My cab business has continued to improve as i started by hire-purchasing the cab first but of now its fully paid, and i have a plan of getting another one in the near future.the cab business is a easily manageable business with high demand in this middle income estate where business people and residents who are ever busy increasing everyday. I have branded my cab and is packed near a bus stage where its easily visibly From the road >This attracts customers and makes it very presentable.I keep my cab always clean and i am on- time and this has made customers always come back to my cab, there are challenges like the ever increasing fuel prices and traffic Jams but with time i have gained knowledge in fuel saving driving and short routes. With a monthly turn over of Kshs 65000 the costs are fuel 25000 servicing 7000 i am able t make about 30000 every month and that's a good business. The Loan i had taken from zidisha has helped make this business a success and i am a great supporter of zidisha

Loan Proposal

Hi lenders,

    Hello James Mwangi,

I thought you might like to know that Julia, the founder and director of Zidisha, has written on the Zidisha forum about the write-off policy.

She wrote: "We have not given up on these loans, and when they are repaid the funds will be returned to lenders just as with other loans. Borrowers who repay written off loans will be allowed to raise new ones in amounts equal to the largest loan they have previously repaid on time, just as other borrowers may do."

Here is the link to the forum thread:
    zidisha.org/forum/threads/a...

So even though it might take you awhile, if you repay in full you will be able to borrow again in the future.

I hope this information brings you some peace.

    Evinpa

      Hello James Mwangi,

I am a lender, although I was not a participant in your loan.

Even though your loan has been changed to written off status you can still repay and make things right.

Although this might not be helpful to you now, Zidisha eliminated the limit on rescheduling. So borrowers can reschedule more than twice. But I'm not sure what happens with your situation.

      Best wishes to you,

      Evinpa

James, I really appreciate your note.
If you haven't given up, neither will I.

My lending has been forced to near standstill by non-repayment of loans. I'm happy to know that yours will not be among them.
I wish you well with overcoming your challenges. marvin

Hi James -- your update is appreciated!
Sorry to hear about all the challenges you are facing of late, but I am confident that these will pass. I believe that you are a man of your word and that you will repay the loan when you are able.
I suggest that you formally reschedule your loan rather than incur late payments.
      Happy Jamhuri Day!

    Hello James,

I can see that you are the volunteer mentor for Simon Kimani, as well as a number of other borrowers. I am one of the lenders to Simon, and would very much appreciate if you could contact him and ask him to provide an update to his lenders on his current situation. He has not made any repayment on his loan, nor has he replied to any of the messages from his lenders. I hope he is OK, but there has been no information at all from him.

Many thanks for your help on this, I can see that you are working hard to support many people through Zidisha.

    Dear Lenders,
Thanks again for the opportunity to interact and your support I am still in business and its not doing bad only the normal challenges which i have tried my best to solve.
I had some challenges my vehicle had some mechanical problems i had to fix,and in the process i hired another to use during that period where i exhausted my savings please give me one month and i shall continue with the payment on time.I am hoping it shall be fixed properly as it still has problems i think its aging and i have to repair it thoroughly for it to give me another year of service

      Dear James,
I understand that you have exhausted your savings on hiring a replacement vehicle until you get repairs. That kind of problem is difficult to avoid. I have seen it many times here in this country and in my family. In many ways we are not so different.

I hope you are up and running soon.

    Hi,

I’m Naroa Zurutuza, Zidisha’s Client Relationship Manager in Kenya currently visiting clients all over the country.

The other I visited Ongata Rongai, a fast developing residential urban aggregation in the outskirts of Nairobi with a current population of more than 100,000. The city is situated 17 km south of Nairobi.

There, I had the pleasure to meet James Mwangi. Mr. Mwangi runs a taxi transportation business in Ongata Rongai. He started the business around one year ago, when after working selling car, vehicle and mechanical pieces, he saved enough money to purchase a taxi.

He has been member of Zidisha for around two years and thanks to the same, he has been able to start his business. In the future, he would like to keep expanding the business by purchasing more cars and being the manager of this taxi transporting service.

Apart from that, he has also done a great job by introducing Zidisha to other members of his community.

    Naroa Zurutuza
