About Me

I was born and brought up in Yala, Siaya County. I schooled at St. Teresa's Yala Primary School. Graduated to join Ng'iya High School for A levels, thereafter joined Kenya Technical Teachers College for Diploma course in Information Technology.
Paying school fees to further my education became a challenge for my parents and through determination and perseverance I pulled through.
After graduating, life became unbearable to sustain myself and finding a job of my profession became a nightmare and for this reason i thought it wise to start Honey Harvesting and selling of both raw and processed honey. In the society people believe in team work for example collecting funds to support village initiated projects every year like building a hospital .my hobby is doing research about everything that comes my way andtheir positive effects.

My Business

I harvest, sell raw and processed honey. Honey has high nutritional value compared to, bleached sugar and its products. For this reason sugar is substituted with honey. After thorough research it came to my realization the adverse effects of bleached sugar and for this i purposed to sell pure honey which has more medicinal value to the body as i needed a healthy community.
I have to travel to the various bee-farming sites, meet the bee-keepers so as to negotiation price before harvesting is done. The harvested honey is transported to Nairobi for processing, packaging, and finally sold to the consumer. The profit amassed is reinvested in expansion of the business, increasing the quality of service provided, paying the house rent as well as purchase of personal effects and food.

Loan Proposal

I will use my first loan to purchase a 20 litre jerrycan of raw honey. The cost is approximately US $54. This will enable me increase my stock thus reaching out to more clients. This will in turn lead to a 30% increase in the profit

Hi! Andre Michels. Hope you are fine and doing great. I thank you very much for showing an interest in the food industry, and welcome to the industry.
      This is how my honey bussiness works;
      1. I purchase raw honey directly from the farmers basicly from Mt. Elgon and part of Baringo county, this is to ensue quality.
      2. Trasport the raw honey to Nairobi where i reside.
      3. Melt the honey then seive it there after i package it to different containers then sell them from the house to the individuals
Basicly food industry in kenya is the best place to channel your investment as it has a ready market especialy if its more nataral for example after seiving a 20litre of raw honey it takes only a week to clear the stock for the demand is high.
Once again do not hesitate to ask more questions and if im not clear enough i invite for questions.thanks and have a wonderful days anf success in your endavours. Im humbled

when i received my loan I had purposed to do honey harvesting and selling business and at that period their was heavy rainfall in Mount Elgon where my honey was to be harvested, that meant that i could not get raw honey . for that purpose i needed to change strategy and opted to started purchasing raw peanuts and later process them to peanut butter then there after sell the peanut butter. this indeed was a great idea that made me have both business running to date i sell honey and peanut butter..
once again i would have not done this alone and mine is to continue thanking you all.

Once again I am grateful to my Zidisha lenders. I thank them all who made my days a reality.
Currently am experiencing challenges of acquiring Harvested raw honey because of the heavy downfall in different parts of Kenya, thus marking it difficult for farmers to harvest the honey . And for that reason i opted to selling peanut butter. This I will do until the end of December this year as i wait for the harvesting season in January.
    Thanks for your support.
