About Me

i am a married man with two children. i am currently a farmer in Bibilioni and farm in one and a half an acre piece of land.i studied up to from two and later decided to venture into milk selling business but gave up after the business went down because of a lot of corruption and mismanagement in the business.later on i ventured in saw milling using a power-saw to cut down trees and timber but due to the restrictions in cutting down of trees and the desire for environmental conservation i gave up the job and ventured into farming as a business after i inherited the land from my parents. My children are currently in school and they are in class two and nursery respectively at a neighbouring school. My wife and i focus on the promotion of farming in our shamba so as to provide food, clothes and a proper education for our children.we are a hardworking couple.the farming business has been going on well and enabled me to take huge steps towards development for the last ten years in which i have been farming.i deal with fruits especially passion fruits.

My Business

I am a farmer by profession and plant on my one and half acre piece of land and deal with fruits especially passion fruits.this go for an year.i had been using fertilizers for the last five years but shifted to cow dung which is not only an alternative source of manure but also a cheaper one.the total cost of farming mainly goes up due to the high cost of pesticides required that costs approximately 15,600 shillings.the seeds are obtained from looking at the best variety and drying the seeds in preparation for the next planting season.i also pay labour costs at about 57600 shillings .i selkl my produce at the Nakuru main market at 60 shillings per kilo earniing me at least 40,000 per month.I harvest for half an year year i obtain about 259200 shillings. i also grow maize cabbages, sukumawiki on small scale and obtain about 60,000 shillings of profit in an year.i get maximum profit due to minimal competition especially in the passion fruit because very few farmers dare take the risk to plant the fruits for fear of diseases and pasts and the high costs of pestides.the vegetables like sukumawiki are planted from December-april on a 1 acre piece of land wher i also plant maize from aprill- november.thism helps in crop rotation and enables me to obtain profit and improve my farm
