About Me

My name is John chege.I am married with two children . I am currently working and residing in Nakuru county, Bahati north district Heshima estate next to Gerald Catholic Church.
I completed my o levels in the year 2000 but could not proceed to college due to financial constraints.
I am now a business man engaged in hard ware business.
I started this business three years ago due to the ever increasing demand for building materials.
In this locality there are many upcoming buildings which provide a good customer base for my wares.

My Business

The hardware business involves buying and selling of various wares used in building and construction which include cement, iron –sheets nails , locks among many other things.
With the lsecond loan that I am I am seeking from ZIDISHA , I intend to expand my business to include a section for electrical fittings which I am currently stocking in small quantities due to low capital.
Most hardware items are bulky and hence most customers prefer to buy from the locality due to low transport cost. Further they are able to buy in small quantities
With the current stock, I make daily sales of about USD 250 with a daily gross profit of about USD 17 translating to about USD 510 per month. My main expenses are rent, electricity and transport , a total of USD 150 monthly, there by realizing a net profit of about USD 360 monthly . With this profit, I will comfortably be able to repay the loan.

Loan Proposal

I am currently running a small hardware shop along in Heshima estate along the busy Nakuru - Nyahururu road , mainly dealing in house construction materials .

When I secure the ZIDISHA loan,I intend to start a section for electricals in the same shop. I will start by stocking the cheap but fast moving items as follows:
Item Quantity Cost/Unit (ksh) Total
Bulbs(filament) 2 doz 360 720
Energy saver bulbs 4 doz 720 1440
Fluorescents tubes 2 doz 960 1920
Bed switches 4 doz 90 360
Grand total 4440
From this initial stock, at the current market price the profit margin is about 25% of the cost price translating to a profit of Kshs 1130 in duration of not more than three days. With continuous restocking, I will raise enough to grow my business as well as repay the loan.
