About Me

My names is John Malindi being born at Machakos District in the year 1954. I am born in a family of 10 children being the third born.
Later we shifter to Nakuru whereby I started my education at ForestHills Primary School.
Due to lack of school fees I was not able to go on with my education so i reached standard seven according to education curriculum of those years.
That is when i decided to search for a job instead of staying idle and I got a job of recording milk in a Dairy Farm which is located at Nyahururu. I was employed there for eight years.
Later, I got married to Margaret Mwangangi at Subukia whereby I shifted after I resume my job at Nyahururu. We are blessed with 10 children of which all of them are grown-up some of them are married and others got married.
While in Subukuia I decided to start a farming business of growing maize and tomatoes. That is in the year 2008. The reason why i started a business is lack of enough time with my family of which it was far away from where I work. So time limiting was great barrier to me. Another thing is lack of enough money to cater for my children and me too.
Through my business I am able to at least stand for my business whenever they needs me, and also am able to plan my time although I have a lot of challenges in my business.

My Business

As I have described earlier, i do a farming business which is located at Subukia, Nakuru County.
The crops that I mainly grow is maize and tomatoes. Others are like vegetables like sukuma just for my family.
Why I decided to start farming maize and tomatoes is because with these food you are able to cater for your business and at the same time do business with them i.e. there is a portion ofwhich is for my family and the least I use to sell.
According to me, this business has been in up and down because there is time that there is no enough rainfall to feed my crops so they end up burning up. But am lucky because am near to certain river of which it helps me a lot when there is no enough rainfall. Another challenge that i use to face is poor transportation during the time I started farming business, but nowadays the road have been catered for and the transportation transportation barrier has been reduced.
Another challenge is lack of capital to for example, buy farming chemicals, lack of transport etc.
Let me say that through my business I have been able to be there for my family even my relatives because food is the basic need in a family so it has been easier to fed my family.
I have been able to pay for my children's school fees etc so it has been profitable to me.
Through Zidisha I know I will make it.
Thank you.

Loan Proposal

I intend to practice commercial tomato farming for this season therefore a loan from zidisha will enable me purchase tomato seeds, prepare land, purchase chemicals to control pests and diseases, facilitate irrigation and also cater for labour expenses for the entire production period. The loan will go a long in enabling me achieve individual economic stability, this means that I will be able to fend for my family and carry out other development projects in our home.
