    Dear Lenders,

my name is Roberta Zenere and I am a Kenya Country Liaison Intern at Zidisha. Within this role, I am coordinating the Zidisha's MPESA team, responsible for processing loan repayments and disbursements.

Today, while reviewing our accounts, I noticed that the repayment of 94.26 USD (8,000 KES) posted on May, 26 in the repayment schedule of Ms Nyokabi was entered by mistake. This means that, upon removal of the transaction, the amount that had been credited to your lender account will be reversed and will reduce your available balances accordingly.

We are sorry for this inconvenience. Please, let us know if you have any questions.

    Thanks for your patience!

    Best regards,

    Roberta
    Zidisha Team

Hello Ann: Just a line to keep in touch. My name is Hugh and I am one of the lenders who helped to fund your Zidisha loan. I hope that your business is picking up and that life is good for you and your girls. I expect that you are in touch with the Zidisha Team, but I know that your lenders would be happy to hear your news, so if you have the chance to send us an update about how things are going, that would be really great. Best wishes.

Hello, my name is Dan Cembrola, one of Zidisha’s Kenya Client Relationship Managers. I am currently visiting Zidisha borrowers in Nakuru and its outskirts.

Today I visited Ann in Salgaa, a small town 30 kilometers west of Nakuru. Salgaa is a small but growing town. Its recent growth is largely due to the flower farms that have been developed in the region. Ann recalls how different the town of Salgaa was when she first moved there six years ago.

As the town continued to grow, Ann realized the need for a general store to satisfy the everyday needs of the workers that had migrated to the area.
One and a half years ago, Ann opened her general store which caters to every citizen of Salgaa, Ann says. When she opened her store in 2011, it was the only one in town. Some competitors have since opened but Ann proclaims that her store still maintains the largest inventory. Her inventory includes everything from groceries, foodstuffs, shoes, clothing, cosmetics, and toiletries. Two times per week, Ann makes the short trip to Nakuru to restock her store.

Ann's store is comprised of two adjacent buildings that have been connected to allow Ann to have more space for the surplus inventory she bought with her first loan. Currently, Ann owns one of the buildings and rents the second for 2,000 Kenyan Schillings per month. As her business continues to grow, she intends to purchase the second building outright.

With her next loan, Ann is planning to use a portion of it to restock her inventory. With the profits from selling her increased inventory and the remainder of the loan, Ann intends to open a second business. She currently sells some cosmetics from her general store, but she believes there is enough demand from the increased population of Salgaa to necessitate a store selling strictly cosmetic products. She envisions that her new store could also serve as a salon at some point. Ann's demeanor, always boisterous and bubbly, seemed even brighter when she talked about the prospect of her new business and the opportunity to create another job in the town of Salgaa.
