About Me

Am a married woman to a military man working with Kenyan Defence Force. I live in Lanet Nakuru County; lanet is located eight kilometers outskirts of Nakuru town. Am graduate teacher from Moi University in Eldoret, I pursued bachelor of Education in mathematics and economics.currently am working at shiner’s girls high school Nakuru, as mathematics teachervisible from Nairobi/Nakuru highway. I have two year old child. I attend African Inland Churches of Kenya, located in Lanet near. I participate in Community building in the area such as tree planting, assisting the needy and encouraging programmes for the girl child. Being a business woman has been my career choice, it has benefited me so much; I have been able to buy a piece of land in lanet from my business returns

My Business

I have been operating a cereal shop for the last five years. I started these type of business because of ever increasing demand of maize, beans, sorghum, millet green grams rice and many others. Nakuru has a very high population which gives me a very effective demand. I chose the products due to its great availability. In the area I do not have high competition and the existing competitors I have an advantage over them, I buy my cereals during harvesting when the price is very low, dry them properly to maintain high quality and treat them with pesticides to avoid piercing by weevils. I sell my products at a very friendly price which keeps on attracting more and more customers. My business does not face any risks because these products are the staple food for the whole community. In a month I incur approximately kes 150,000 inclusive of costs of buying the cereals, labour cost, rent and other miscellaneous expenses; from the cost of sales I am able to make amonthly revenue of kes 240,000 with a profit margin of kes 80,000

Loan Proposal

am so grateful to the entire zidisha team for reviewing my loan application and and my mentor Sammy Njuguna for assisting to navigate through the system. i will use my first loan as an additional capital to buy more stock of maize especially at these time when most farmers are selling their maize, beans, and others cereals to raise fess for their children who are joining form one these month. i will buy, treat the cereals with pesticides and dry them well as i wait for the high prices next month.
