About Me

I am Alice Wakonyo Mwangi aged 43years living at Rongai waka estate. i’m single with 2 wonderfull daughters. as a single woman I experience so many difficulties especially after the death of my husband in our early years of our marriage it has been very difficult for me to raise the children alone especially their education.
As days went by I decided to start a small business in 2004 of a small shop using a small capital of 4,000 sh that I was lent my father in law. Within an year my business had picked and I had saved 15,000 sh as profit. I ploughed back the profit and I could afford to pay for the fees of the two daughters who were in school. It was well untill 2008 during the post election violence that affected the country and mostly our area Rongai and I lost about sh.50,000 some of my properties were looted e.g weighng machine of weighinng consumer goods ; 50 loaves of breads and three crates of sodas .Some of my clients also dIssapeared with huge debts and they were finally resettled in other areas of kenya as internally displaced persons (IDP).

My Business

My business is a mini supermarket located at Waka centere at the junction of Rongai Visoi and worker Tavot road I get very many customers because the business is strategicaly located and my prices are low for an ordinary Mwananchi( citizen). My shop is a multiporpose one and I also stock other local goods such as plastic shoes playing cards and scatch cards.
The business has helped me alot that if I can get any aid to boost it can be more better. I do sell 5 bundles of wheat flour,50kg suger and 90kg maize meal a day.the estimated daily Sales are 12,000 to 15,000 that makes a total of 70,000 to 105,000 a week. The annual income is approximately 60,000 to 80000.
I also give the service by taking some item to the homes of my customers that need a faster means of transport all the same I use bicycle to transport the goods.I have two assistant who i pay 300 sh a day. They always report early at 7a.m arranging thing in order weigh sugar, rice, fat, maize floor and later transporting goods to the customers. Their evening offtime is always at 5p.m.
I am always happy with the bussines, as it has been my life. It has helped to develop, educate the children, have builed me a home and assisting my aged parents.

Loan Proposal

I will use the loan to increase my stock because recently it had declined because I was sick for some considerable time. I would like to raise the stock and hence business to where it was and even more. I will use 20000 Ksh. for stocking new shoes and increasing the current stock, 20000 Ksh. for foodstuff i.e bread and sodas as they have increased in demand from my customers, 20000 Ksh. to increase clothes stock, 40000 Ksh. for cereals i.e green grams, beans, maize, rice, wheat flour and maize flour (this are not included in the earlier fast foodstuffs) and the rest for the services.

    Hi Alice,
Respectfully asking, I don't understand why you're requesting new loan funds, when you made eight months of payments last month on your prior loan.
    Thank you. marvin

I have been silent since November last year after losing my password but thanks to the Director Julia K. am able to post again. My business is going on well but I experienced some challenges a few days ago after burglars broke into my shop and stole a substantial amount of cash and some goods. They broke in through the roof which is of iron sheets when it was raining heavily and I could not hear them but came to the realization of it in the morning when I went to open my shop. I reported the matter to the concerned authority and I repaired the damaged roofing. The other challenge has been the transportation of goods from the main town Nakuru to our area due to the poor road caused by the heavy rains that we are currently experiencing in our region. I am updating by profile picture to the current state of my business.

    Hi Alice,
I agree with Katpjotr that raising the proposed loan interest amount to 2 to 3% will ease in getting this loan funded more quickly; the actual bid close date for this loan is today 11/28/2011. Raising the amount is also important since all other active loans on Zidisha right now have a repayment period of 12 months or less, while your loan is 18 months.

    Thanks.

Hello Alice, I financed part of your loan last time. I am surprised to sea a proposed intrest of 0.00%. If you could propose a reasonable intrest of for instance between 2 and 3%, then I could finance again. I am convinced that you will have your loan financed a lot faster.

i've completed to settle my balance. As i had requested in my last profile, things have changed alot in the country. all commodities have gone up in a high speed making the business hard to corporate and give out the best service.
I'm asking you to give me from ksh 2000 and with the best interest. Thanks in advance.

    Dear all,

I'd like to share the following message, which Ms. Wakonyo sent to us by email today:

Its my great pleasure to have you as my promoters. I am so grateful for your assistance that I really don't know how to reward you. You come came to my life when I was so desperate, frustrated and I was feeling to have been finished. Following the post violence in 2007/2008, people were displaced and run away with the debt, the stock left was looted.
After I came jionly with Zidisha my life had been relieved. I followed the procedures and after a period of 2months I was with my kshs. 50,000 that I am almost to clear. Comes as a surprise because my sales had been so down due to the shortage of enough varieties of goods.
The first thing was to change motorbike from a bicycle to make work easier. It has helped alot and I have regained my lost customers and also cash in has gone up.
I have been happy with the I have been paying my loan because it's with favorable interest.
I have been paying even more than what was needed.
Though, I am very sorry for not sending any comments because my business in an interior place where its hard to get accessible to computers hence I am happy and I appreciate your great assistance.
what i can request is when giving me another chance please add as much the amount and with the best interest. there have been a lot of changes in the country, all the commodities has gone up into to double, and has cost the business hard to co-operate and supply each and everything.
Once again to you Zidisha you have been my strength and my hope.I love you and may God bless you.

    Kind Regards

    Alice Wakonyo
