About Me

My name is HENRY MWANGI NDIRANGU. I am married with three children. My business is situated at Karunga Shopping centre, from Nakuru/Nyahururu road as you reach a centre called Maili Saba. You branch to your right take a rough road go past St. John’s secondary school, then from their to Karunga Centre. I live at Bahati Scheme, 2 KM from Karunga Centre. If you ask for Baba Ndirangu you will be brought at my home.We live in Karunga centre where we boarder the bahati forest and so the place is very productive due to the rainfall through out the year.

My Business

I am a mechanic (motorbike repairer) I have garage by the name MWERERI GARAGE. I also sell motorbike spare parts e.g rubber tubes, clutch cables, rings, spotlights bulbs, break shoes e.t.c. Is a good business since in our area motorbikes have become the best economical, efficient mode of transport. Due to lack of unemployment youth have engaged in a business of carrying passengers to and from the village(boda boda) Due to rough road many bikes get problems and there I get business by repairing them. From my business I get about Ksh. 30,000 per month that is Ksh. 360,000 annually. Risks that my business faces are rain and hot sun shines and lack of some spare parts since I am far from Town centre.

Loan Proposal

I would like to uplift my business by buying more motorbikes spare parts. Buying more tools for the garage in order to have artisans for learning in my garage. I also want to buy iron sheets to construct a shelter to protect me from rain and hot sun. By doing this my profit will increase and my garage will be busy because customers will not be traveling a long distance seeking for repair services and spare parts.

I emailed support and got this response from the Zidisha team, so they're working on it:

Thank you for the email and I apologize for the delay in solving this problem. It is proving to be a more complex bug than we originally thought, which is why it has taken so much time to fix. Our web developer is working to solve it now, and I hope it will be resolved soon.

Thanks again for the email, and once again I apologize for the delay- I understand this is halting lenders from being able to make new loans, which can be very frustrating!

    Best,
    Bayle, Zidisha Team

    Dear Lenders,

Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve the issue with your lender accounts and the payment made by this borrower. Our team originally thought it was a different problem, and so it took some time to discover that it was actually a much more complex issue than originally thought. This plus the holiday break has caused it to take so long to be resolved. Our web developer is still working to solve the issue, and I sincerely apologize for the time it has taken to resolve!

    Thanks again for your patience,
    Bayle, Zidisha Team

Dear Roberta, I had the same problem on Dec 18 my lender credit balance dropped from $ +20.37 to $ -79.11. All this happened within one minute (or with the"Zidisha Payment Received" made by HENRY MWANGI message sent to me at 10.16 hours the same day (18 Dec 2013). May I ask you to check how this happened, please. Thanks! Despite this little accident I would like to wish all the best to the whole Zidisha team for 2014!!! You are doing a great job! I hope your activities will reach even higer and even more prosperous levels for small entrepreneurs in even more countries! Best regards Bavarian

Agreed, there is a problem. Mine went from a small balance to a negative balance and now shows 0, despite Mr. Mwangi's repayments.

    Dear lenders,

my name is Roberta Zenere and I am coordinating the team responsible to register payments that we receive from Kenya borrowers through MPESA.

On December, 17 a repayment of 98.20 USD was registered by mistake. The payment that Mr Mwangi sent on that date, was 28,27 USD as it is reported in his repayment schedule. So, the registration for the 98.20 USD with a minus signed was entered to correct the incorrect transaction posted for the same amount. The correction was entered under the date "December. 17". Yet, it seems that due to a bug in our website, the date was entered as "December, 31 1969". We are investigating on this issue with our web developer to fix the problem.

Apologies for the inconvenience and don't hesitate to contact us for any question you may have.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Roberta

How on the earth that my account balance went from $11to -66 due to the payment by Mr. Mwang. Now I do not have any funds to make a new loan. Is this mean all the money I transferred is vanished in to thin air. I write email to service zidisha and nothing happened. Even no one reply to it. I am really want to see a reply from someone responsible about this. I don't mind losing the money for good reason but I want to know what happen to it.

I had the same issue as many others and the message from customer service is the same that Roberta gave - that there was a bug created during the process when Mr. Mwangi sent a payment. Customer service said that the problem has taken longer to resolve because most of the volunteer staff is on holidays at this time. I expect it to be resolved once they start coming back, so I'm not worried about it. Happy new year all!

        Hi tswickrama,

I sincerely apologize that we did not respond to your email! Please do not worry that your money disappeared- we are still working on solving the bug and once it is resolved, all money will be returned to each lender affected. I understand this may be very frustrating but please note we are very aware of the number of lenders this has affected and are working to solve it.

Thank you and once again I apologize that we did not respond to your email.
        Best wishes,
        Bayle, Zidisha Team
