My names are Pauline Sirengo and a resident of Githima estate in Nakuru town. I am single and from a family of four sisters and two brothers. Am a form four leaver and with a diploma certificate in sales and marketing. I was employed as a merchandiser in a local supermarket but I left and started a small business in selling charcoal. There is a lot of demand for the same in the estate where I live as most people are low income earners and the prices of gas and kerosene is out of reach for them. I source charcoal from the expansive mau narok area and sell at my estate. Given a loan from your organization, I intend to purchase more supplies so that I can stock more and generate more revenue.
As I have stated, my business involves sourcing charcoal and selling the same at Githima estate in Nakuru town. Ther e is a lot of demand for charcoal in the area as fossil fuels prices continue to skyrocket and getting beyond the reach of the ordinary citizen. Customers prefer my business to competition because I make sure I source quality charcoal from dependable and reliable suppliers . I also run my business hands on and that’s why customers are able to get timely services and positive feedback from me. The business is profitable because there is always demand for quality charcoal. I earn around seven hundred to one thousand daily, pay municipal fees and house rent. Given a loan from your organization, I will invest in business and make it bigger, pay loans and come for more funds
I would to take this opportunity to give thanks to zidisha team forgiving me this opportunity to post my first loan. Am business woman and I have been involved in charcoal business for the last four years, for the past two years since the government closed mau forest so as to save our water catchment zone I have moved to eco-friendly charcoal. I source my stocks from a local women’s group in the county, who made these charcoal from charcoal ash and cow dung. The market for the eco-charcoal is growing as more people turning to using this new kind of charcoal because they are cheap and they last longer.
I intend to use the loan to increase my stock and the rest of the money to repair my store. My gross monthly income is Ksh 26000, my expense include monthly fee of 360 which I pay to the county government, I have employed one person who help me to deliver the charcoal to my clients and he takes home a monthly income of 6500. My monthly electricity bill is ksh 900, after deducting all the expenses am left with around ksh 18240 as my net income. i use 30% of my net income to reinvest back into my business.
