About Me

My name is Josephine Njambi born in Eldoret in Kenya's Rift Valley region 21 years ago. I was born in a family of three and I am the second born. My father is a policeman and I moved around the county in my early childhood years due to his frequent transfers from his place of work.

I did my primary and secondary education in areas such as Nyeri and Meru which are very far from where I was born. I did well in my exams and secured a place at Chuka University where I am pursuing a degree course in Agri-business management. I expect to complete the course next year.

My Business

My parents are currently residing in Mombasa city. This is where I settled when I cleared my secondary education. I also did a short course in computer application as I was waiting to join the university. At the same time, I started a small business of selling mobile phone accessories as a way of generating revenue for my own use instead of bothering my parents who were also taking care of the other children.

I decided to venture into this business because of high demand of these items occasioned by mobile phone explosion in the region. The accessories are very popular with young people and they form the largest block of my clients. I normally source the items from big stores in Mombasa and Nairobi and then retail them at a profit.

I have trained my brother to do the business and he is the one who takes charge when I am away doing my studies. This arrangement has worked well for us since he is a very hardworking and honest person. I also sell these items within the university premises and I record good sales in both places.

Since i increased my inventory using my first zidisha loan,my profits have doubled from $300 to $660. Increased inventory will further expand my business and thus create more employment opportunities hence achieving my ultimate goal as an entrepreneur.
