About Me

My names are Maria Legco Tusara born in the year 1902, in Nakuru county of Rift valley Province in Kenya. I went through my Primary education in Nakuru. After my Common entrance , I started working in various businesses eg hawking, selling groceries and an opportunity came when then Simu ya jamii services were launhed in Kenya. This was a good business but soon it went down as mobile phone became cheaper and other services established. This forced me to explore further in life. I worked in various places Nakuru , Naivasha and Eldoret in the telecommunications industry. This was until year 1936 where I started my own business in Eldoret. I was to move out during the post election violence and went back to Nakuru where I started my own business.

My Business

Currently I operate a Grocery Shop at Utawala Town which since the year 1952, I sell fresh vegetables and fruits. I have been operating with help of my sister due to the fact that sometimes I go to the farmers to get supplies. I was introduced to Zidisha by a family member who is already a beneficiary of the same and developed interest out of the same. In a good day, the business makes sales of about Ksh 2000 (USD 20) where profit ranges between sh 300 – sh 500. In a good month then the total profit is approximately sh. 10 000 (USD 100) which helps me pay rent and family upkeep. I would therefore wish to borrow from you so that I can have additional stock in the grocery shop where I can assign my sister to handle variety of items.

Loan Proposal

With this second loan, I do request for loan from zidisha so as to stock variety of groceries, just like with my first loan, I would wish to have variety of fruits like apples, pawpaw among others. I would wish that in future I operate within a premises after making permanent customers and also look for orders to supply in institutions. Currently I am doing well and my engagement with zidisha is long-term oriented and soon I will be working on a permanent structure. I would wish to get supplies in wholesale so as to reduce operational cost. I have a fridge and I will be making use of it. I will improve my display structure by acquiring crates for storage and construct a better structure. The estimated cost of this will be USD 400 and am confident that I will make it.
