My name is Nusura Nafula , I am married with two kids. I went to Nasira primary school ,and later proceeded to Nasira day school. I had to walk 15km to and from school a total of 30km daily ,I struggled despite the hardship and completed my secondary education. I did not do so well in my final exams. I joined Nasira polytechnic where i studied certificate in agriculture.
With no good academic background getting a job become difficult. I landed a job at my former polytechnic as care taker for rabbits,I could feed them and take care of them ,clean the hatches .With time i developed interest for the animals and built my own rabbit unit with the help of farm manager.Marketing my rabbits was quit difficult at first ,but once I visited the district agricultural officer he introduced me to buyers from Nairobi who have continuously bought my rabbit. I also produce approximately 800kgs of manure and 200litres of urine monthly from my 36 rabbits.
My elder son is 5 and in nursery school,he wants to be a doctor while my daughter is 9 months.
I am social and like socializing and meeting new people. I also give motivational talks to women and girls who are going through hardship in life.
my main business is rabbit keeping , I have 36 rabbits at the moment and 10 of them are expectant and will deliver next week. I sell rabbits for meat to hotel, manure to farmers and urine to farmers in my village.
Rabbit gives white meat ,and its meat is lean and delicious, though traditionally women in most communities in kenya dont eat rabbit things are changing and most women are now eating rabbit and hence the growing market. Manure is always sold even before I produce it,the demand is so high and farmers always make orders for me to reserve it for them. Generally business is good throughout the year.
In a month I spend $30 on drugs and vaccines , I feed my rabbits from weeds and vegetables remains as per the market requirement,my buyer says rabbits fed on weeds give better quality meat. My revenues average per month is $200. I use my profits for paying fees for my son and buying food for my family and parents. I save 10%for expansion of these promising business.
Hello lenders,My hope is that you are doing fine. I have been planning to diversify my activities to include poultry farming. I would keep layers for eggs production . The demand for eggs is very high here and the supply is very low with most supply being imported. Poultry farming has great potential and will make me realize my financial goals through improved income.
I would use the loan to construct a 1000 capacity poultry unit ,that I would use as a start up.
kindly help me realize these dream.Thank you in advance.
