About Me

I was born on the 22nd, September, 1960. We were born five boys with no girl at all. I am the second born in the family. My elder brother passed on in 1990. My father passed on when I was in standard 6, in 1974. After the death of my father I went to stay with my maternal grandmother in May 1974 until I did my first national exams( Kenya Certificate of Primary Education) in 1975. Incidentally my elder brother had repeated some class, so he also sat for Kenya Certificate of Primary Education in the same year( 1975). I got 36 points in the exams( which is the maximum points in the exams then) while my elder brother got 32 points. Both of us were officially called to join government secondary schools. However since we were orphans both of us could not go to secondary schools because my mother was unemployed then. So the local chief of our area organized for a fundraising to raise money for both of us to join secondary schools. However the amount that was raised could only be sufficient for one of us to go to a secondary school. So I gave my elder brother a first chance to go to the secondary school where he had been called to join while I repeated standard 7 in order to join Starehe Boys Centre and school.

I later sat for Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exams for the second time in 1976 and got 34 points, 2 less than the maximum points of 36. I officially got a letter from Starehe Boys Centre and School to join form one there. I later did my Kenya Advanced Secondary School exams and got a division one.

l am a family man with 4 grown-up children.l worked with Telkom (K) Ltd for 24 years as a telecommunication technician and rose to the rank of a telecommunication engineer. While working with Telkom (K) I also got trained as a Peer Education Facilitator as well as Christian/Muslim Family Life Education Facilitator.

I went to Starehe Boys Centre and School where I attained two Subsidiary passes in Mathematics and Physics.

I was retrenched from Telkom (K) in 2008 thereafter I started keeping Livestock ( one dairy cow and some indigenous poultry)

From the earnings I am able to educate two orphans and four poor students in secondary school. With more income I shall be able to cater for education of many more needy children.

My hobbies are: reading bible, teaching the word of God, teaching about reproductive health and cheering local football and international football.
I am also a pastor with Church on the Rock Ministries in Africa. The church I pastor is situated within the environs of Nakuru town. The church has 40 members( adults and the youth).

My Business

I am still running my banana selling business with my wife in Nakuru Wholesale Market. So l intend to buy stock of 90 banana @ $6 per a banana, thereby costing me a total of $540( 54,000 kenya shillings). I also intend to use $250( 25,000 Kenya shillings) to pay my college fees balance in order to graduate with a diploma in Theology and Bible Studies in the month of March, 2019. The rest of the amount will cater for transportation and other logistics.

Loan Proposal

I shall buy 100 bananas @ $6.5 (650) per a banana costing $650 (65,000). I shall pay transport expenses for 100 bananas amounting to $120 (12,000). Two workers to offload the bananas from a lorry and the other two to carry the bananas to my market stall shall be paid a total of $40 (4000). My selling price per a banana shall be $8 (800). Total selling price shall be $800, fetching me a total interest of $150 (15,000) before deductions of expenses.
Benefits: I shall be able to raise the remaining fees of $250 (25,000) before graduation time in March, 2019. I shall also be able to feed my wife and two dependents who stay with us, one in a secondary school and the other in a college. I shall also be able to take care of my cow boy as well as the cow and calf back at home in the farm. My profit is likely to increase from $70 (7000) to $120 (12,000) after business expenses.

Loaning to Michael is a real pleasure. He seems to do his best to live his faith, to help others. He gives frequent updates, and it's great to hear what he's doing with the money he receives. He's paying for orphans to go to school and trying to improve his business and standard of living. Michael is a real gift to us!

I want to ask to be forgiven for delaying to acknowledge receipt of my loan a few weeks back because my smartphone developed some problems after l had taken some photos at workplace. However here is my report.

Wooow! I am elated for the love my lenders have towards me to fund me 92% so far. I have faith the 8% funding remaining will be done today, with three more days to go. All glory and honour to God who has enabled you to fund me.

I am extremely happy with you my lenders. So far my loan is 19% funded. Thanks for the faith you have in me. I have six remaining days in order to be 100% funded. I have faith in you, lenders, that in the next few days I shall be 100% funded and I thank God in advance for you that you shall fund my loan in full. Remain blessed.

I shall surely write to James Diawuo in Ghana. There is still a chance for him to correct his ways and come back not only to save his integrity but to restore nomalcy in the hearts of other zidisha members in Ghana.

Dear lenders: The last loan I received from you helped me a lot. I bought 90 bananas at a cost of kshs. 600 ($6) per a bunchof bananas, totalling to kshs. 54,000 ($540). I sold the 90 bananas within a week at a cost of kshs. 700 ($7) per a bunch, thereby fetching me kshs. 63,000 ($630). Hence giving me a net profit of kshs 9000($90) before deducting expenses. After expenditure I get a net profit of kshs. 7000 ($7).

With the proceeds I managed to pay for my college fees amounting to kshs. 105,000 ($1050) for the whole year(2018). I am yet to pay a fee balance of kshs. 25,000 ($250) before I graduate with a Diploma in Theology and Bible Studies in the month of March, 2019. I also took care of my cow and the calf in the same year.

I am glad you help teach about reproductive health. I am an atheist, and I see you are religious, but that is okay. My belief system leads me to help those in need, to help others when I can. I also see you are paying for education for orphans. That is wonderful! I'm glad I can help you, even if it's just a little bit!

The last loan l have just completed helped me a lot. Out of the sale of 70 bananas l initially bought, l have gradually improved in sales and in profit making hence l managed to do the following:
    1. I painted my house in Kitale, since l do business in Nakuru.
    2. I bought furniture
    3. I ploughed a leased one acre farm in Kitale and planted maize and beans.
    4. I also bought a dairy cow.
