I am a Kenyan citizen living in Kericho county aged 28 years and can also communicate in English, Kiswahili and Kalenjin (Native). In our family am the last born in a family of five children and my father is an engineer at Kenya Railways Company Nairobi and my mother is a farmer. After completing my secondary school education in the year 2012 I joined Computer College at Eagle computers Ltd for basic computer literacy program that normally takes a period of one month to complete. During this period I developed an interest in video editing and simple photography which I used to take it as my hobby during my leisure time. I have been taking photos in different schools, churches and various functions within our area. The camera that I have been using was a present that I was given by my elder brother. So I decided instead of depending on them to give me the pocket money, I could as well generate my own money through photography and simple video editing skills that was acquired during my computer training program. I did this especially in the evening after helping my mother at home with simple farming for a period of two years (2yrs) before joining Muranga teachers college in the year 2013 to pursue a teaching training course for which I will complete this year April 2015. In college also I have doing photographs especially during the weekends and producing them at Thika town. This zidisha online program will be of benefit to me because it will enable him to upgrade from what I have started using my little savings to purchase other printing accessories and opened up a big printing studio in kericho town in the coming years
My source of income will be through photography where I will be taking photos, creating student ID, pass photo, printing other photos for other clients in the business. I will be taking each photo at $2 and the expenditure for the Photo is $1 which will give a profit of $1. In a day I will ensure that at least 50 photos should be taken and that will guarantee me at least an income of $50 per day. Photography in this area is very common and the demand for this is quite very high. Normally towards the end of the season that is December holiday there is good business. The loan which I intended to get from Zidisha lenders will be used to purchase a new Digital camera and the associated printing accessories. In the area of producing student ID for various schools in the region at the cost of $10 especially for those students joining form one in the secondary schools within our region. For other printing solutions to other clients where they will be required to come with their own photos through the storage media like memory cards, CDs/DVDs and flash disks that will be plugged in to our printers for printing at a cost of $1 for every photo that will be taken. Other areas that is likely to generate income is through shooting in various functions like weddings, funerals and special functions that requires pictures and sometimes video generation or editing will be required. We will provide our services for these special functions to make our customers satisfied and proud with the quality photos and videos that we will ensure they get them in the required time as soon as possible. The profits from the business will be re-invested so as to generate more income and the extra will be used to help the needy in the society to further their education. Best regards.
The intended loan will be used for the purchase of internet installation accessories. These include routers at $10, D-link switch at $5, RJ-45 at $10, Ethernet cables at $5 and wall cabinet at $8. My customers have been asking for several internet services a part from printing photographs to many other internet services including the following; email creation, facebook, KRA pin generation and E-learning resource centre. With this services in place, I will increase the monthly income to about $200 per month and also pay for my masters program at the Kenyatta University Kericho Campus. The charges for the use of internet services will range from $0.5 per minute for the internet surfing or browsing and for the five computers will generate over $50 per day.
