About Me

I am Felix Mutunga. I am married and we have 1 kid. I am living in Nakuru town, Rift Valley, Kenya. My occupation is a manager in the hospitality industry. I am also a businessman in agribusiness. I rear chickens and also like to do practices to conserve the environment. I started a business because I wanted to put my skill and experience into creating an environment which can accommodate others. This business has been a success not only to me but to many through learning practically, setting examples to my neighbors. I like traveling, reading business journals and helping in community charity work. Zidisha has been a helping hand through the observation from my friends who have been members.

My Business

The sources from which I am going to repay my loans are my business profits and savings that I do every week. I sell the chicken to various hotels and restaurants. My customers don't worry about the transport cost since I deliver personally. The business is profitable and I do face challenges such as the changing prices of the products. I do make a profit of KSh 20,000. I do sell 50 indigenous chicken @ 600, making a sell of 30,000 per month.

Loan Proposal

When I get this loan,it will help me improve on my chicken project in the following ways;,buying of feeds estimated at 80 dollars, buying of drugs and paying for veterinary extensions at the balance of 70 dollars.Despite the fact that I still have deficit of about 150 dollars for improved feeds and medication and services for my chickens am happy that through this small loan I will be able to see some of the followings the returns the loan will create; improved chicken quality that will help me get a bigger and better market since the chickens are in good health. The returns will then help expand my farm by increasing the number of animals and also employ a few people. I should be supported because I can't afford single to meet full financial requirements of the agribusiness due to the increased costs of farm inputs like feeds, drugs, paying for veterinary work and paying my workers this is attributed to the high standard of living in my country especially around Nakuru where I run my agribusiness.

The expected loan will be 872 dollars. To buy the medications for my chickens and for the veterinary services, I will need 160 dollars for a longer period. To repair the poultry house again after some 3 years, I will need 100 dollars. To repair electricity in the poultry house, I will need 80 dollars. To pay the electrician, I will need 52 dollars. To buy materials for the poultry house, I will need 80 dollars. I will need: 70 dollars for labor, 100 dollars for daily transport costs and the other 230 dollars to buy the chick feed for a longer period.

This loan will be a great help as the previous loan has made my business grow. The support of Zidisha has also helped me to create employment in the local community; I have employed at least four workers. Thanks, Zidisha lenders, for your support and encouragement. Zidisha is the future for people who would like to succeed in life
