About Me

I am a Kenyan, born and raised in Central Kenya. I went to school up to secondary school and upon completion of a four year course, I started working as a casual in big tea plantations.

I later re-located to Mombasa about 10 years ago where I started my own business. I started by selling used clothes and through hard work and serious savings, I managed to buy a three wheeler taxi (locally called tuk-tuk) which I use to ferry passengers and goods across Mombasa Town.

My old business of selling used clothes still exists and my wife helps me in running it.

I am a father of 2 school going boys aged 9 and 4 years.

My Business

I currently run two businesses one selling of used clothes and the other one operating a three wheeler taxi which are very popular here in Mombasa.

When business is booming, I make about $250 from clothes business while the taxi gives me $300. I believe with extra capital which I hope to get from Zidisha, I will be able to diversify my items in my clothes shop. With an injection of a loan which I expect to get from Zidisha, I hope to increase my sales in the shop and net an average of $350 per month.

I would also like to brand my shop to attract more customers. This will require about $50 which I will use to buy paint and pay the sign writer.

Loan Proposal

I am glad I found a partner in Zidisha whom I can rely on for my business growth. I recently came to an agreement with a local school where I will be supplying them with maize flour and cooking oil for making their meals.

They will be consuming 50 kilograms of maize flour and 20 liters of cooking oil per week. This is a good deal and I want to boost the stock of this two items so that I can serve this important client without hiccups.

With this money, I will by 4 bundles of maize flour (96Kgs) at a cost of $50 and 60 liters of cooking oil at a cost of $65.

This will ensure an uninterrupted supply of these materials to the school and I am hoping to use this client to refer me to other such clients.
