About Me

My name is Sarah Wanjiru, . Wanjiru was born in Malaba near the Kenya – Uganda border where my parents worked. Malaba is a small busy town where there is a lot of cross border business and there are many travellers at any given time.

I was educated up to secondary school and later did a course in Clearing and Forwarding. I later did a course in computer applications. I grew up helping my parents in their daily chores.

After my education, I got married to a man who lived in my neighborhood but we later re-located to Mombasa to start a business there.

I am a mother of two children aged 12 and 3 years old.

My Business

Mine is a joint venture with my husband. We deal with selling of herbal medicines which are widely used in Kenya as alternative medicine. They are preferred by a good number of people because they are affordable and have no side effects as compared to conventional medicine.

We source or raw materials from Nairobi, and neighboring countries. The base material for most of our products are nettles, aloe vera , garlic eucalyptus etc. Our products control many conditions such as common colds, blood pressure, boils, tonsillitis, malaria etc.

We are fully licensed by the Government of Kenya to undertake this business. We make a profit of about $450 per month and this is what sustains the family. I am hoping to expand my business in future by opening more branches in the neighboring towns so as to maximize my profits.

Loan Proposal

I am currently enjoying a steady growth of my business and this is directly attributable to Zidisha support. I recently attended a trade fair to showcase my products and I was able to secure some big orders from business people.

I need to increase my stock to deal with this new found fortune. If I get funded and I hope I will, I will use the money to buy additional raw materials for making the herbal medicines as well as packaging materials in the ration of 60:20. I will use the remaining amount to cater for transport costs since some of the orders are from people outside the town.

Thank you for walking with me in this journey of faith and success.
