My name is Emmanuel Karani,I am the 2nd born son of Mr Rodgers Karani and Mrs. Imelda Nyamitha. We are 7 children in our family. I went to Sigalame secondary school> I completed my secondary education in 2013 ,I passed well and is doing farming to raise fees for a degree course, since my parents can not afford to pay for me.
After completing secondary school ,I stayed at home jobless for a while ,I knew I could not get a white collar job because the market is flooded with graduates who were jobless. I have always wanted to do my own things and that is when the idea of utilizing our two acres peace of land come into my my mind. I knew these was a resource and swung into action. I cleared the land and with the help of friends prepared it for planting. However things did not work as per my expectation,i did not have money to buy seeds and had to plant local non-certified seeds which of-cos did not do well. I got little harvest but used that as a stepping stone.I sold the harvest and prepared for the next season. the next season did not disappoint. I am now diversifying my farm and has started doing horticulture, just to make sure ,my cash flow is constant through out the year.
I like watching football during my free time.I also dedicate some time to teach young girls and boys in my local primary school for there are no enough teachers.
I am a farmer, and I grow maize and vegetables in my farm. Maize is the major activity but i grow vegetables to ensure I get cash always. The returns in both ventures are good .
Maize is a staple food here and the demand is always high.Just in case the prices are low,I always hold my maize so that I can sell later at the best prices.
I choose farming because it was the most profitable business that required little capital .like for my case i started with zero capital.
I spend average $150 a month and my revenues is $350 a month.
I use my profits to support my family through paying fees for my sisters and brothers, business expansion and saving for my degree course.
Dear lender
I am requesting for loan to add more irrigation pipes in farm. These will enable me to maximize the use of my foot pump ,since it has 30m pipes only. I will buy 60m of pipe and these will enable me irrigate a bigger portion of land. The benefit will be increased production that will lead to increased revenues and better life.
I expect my revenues to increase by 50% in the next one month.Thank you for your support.
