About Me

I am from a traditional Inadan chief's family from Abalak, department of Abalak in the region of Tahoua. I am from a tradition of artisans. My education is limited to primary school. For many reasons I was pushed to begin business because I am in charge of my whole family, that is to say my own family, my parents, brothers and sisters. I am the father of 3 childrenw ho are two daughters and one son. I pay school fees for my daughters, I pay my rent and water and electricity, food and clothing and also medications for myself and my wife and my children. I buy also the primary material for my work, that is to say, silver. I also pay for a taxi every day.

My Business

My business is an artisan workshop. I make modern Touareg jewelry. Each type has many examples. For example, earrings are in three types: those with a stone, those with ebony wood, and those with only metal. The same thing holds true for bracelets and necklaces. The talent with which one works is shown most importantly by new creations. Customers prefer my jewelry simply because they are different from others' jewelry even though I use the same jewels and materials I create new and different creations. The profitability is due to the fact that there are new creations and the customers prefer something a little bit new. There are no risks because I work carefully and in an organized way. The monthly costs are different each month. Earnings also differ by season: for example the tourist season and Christmas season when everyone gives gifts... during these seasons orders increase by 50%. But retaining the profits and revenue is dependent on the quality of work offered.

Loan Proposal

I will buy a half kilogram of pure silver for 200000 FCFA. I will make bracelets, rings, earrings, and necklaces. In all mixed catogories for a total of 70 pieces: 20 earrings, 15 different necklaces, 20 rings and 15 bracelets. At a medium price I will gain 500000 FCFA. This loan will help me to grow my business.

    Dear Lenders,
My name is Ashlee and I am a Communications Associate with Zidisha. We are currently working to help Monsieur Ghaissa meet the repayments he has missed. Besides being financially unable to meet these, we often find there are three main reasons our borrowers fall into arrears: they may have simply forgotten to make a repayment, we may have had trouble communicating with them to remind them of this, or they may have made a repayment but this has not been properly referenced on the bank statement (meaning without confirmation from the borrower, this cannot be entered on their repayment schedule). With regard to Monsieur Ghaissa specifically, our biggest challenge has been trying to contact him; this is made even more difficult by bad connections and difficult time zones. As we continue to follow up with him, we ask for your patience as we do. We will keep you update as best we can.
    Thank you for your understanding,
    Ashlee

    Dear lenders,
My name is Mien, I am Client Relationship Manager for Zidisha in West-Africa. You may have been wondering why this loan, that has been fully financed since a while and also has been accepted by the borrower, has not been disbursed yet. Since one month we have been negotiating with our partner bank in Niger about free disbursement of our loans. The bank has charged us 11900 FCFA (23,60 USD) for each of the first disbursements we did in Niger. It is clear that Zidisha can't accept such fees and we don't want our borrowers to pay them either. Negotiations go on and may result in the decision to start a partnership with a new bank in Niger. We hope to find a solution during the next few days, in order to disburse this and all the other loans in Niger, and in order to guarantee the future development of our Niger program.
Thank you very much for your patience and understanding.
