Hello, I am Kesler Ombogo Ochieng a 20 year old Chemistry student at the University of Kisii. I live in Nairobi with my family and I plan to start a part time business as I earn my degree for my upkeep in school. Studying quite far from home requires a comfortable sum of money and I plan on making my own.
My initial proposal to open a cyber to service my campus will unfortunately not be possible following the Corona virus pandemic. Due to strict rules on social distancing and the curfew I had to abandon that business plan and adopt a new one; agribusiness. With money from the previous loan I managed to buy maize and sorghum seeds for our 1 acre family farm and supplementary spinach and tomato seeds to plant in our garden. With a new loan I plan to purchase fertiliser and hire a tractor plough together with some labour to help tend to the farm in the coming months before harvest.
With the loan I plan to entre a new phase in my farming business. The crops will be weeded regularly and sprayed with herbicides by hired local labour. But my new plan involves purchase of livestock. Sheep, rabbits and a few ducks. They wood need the proper housing and feeding before they start producing for commerce and sustenance.
With the current pandemic food and livestock products become a rare and valuable commodity with little to no risk of loss or any kind of contamination due to the virus. This food and said products will still retain it's market if not increase it
