About Me

My name is Grace Wangeci Gathua and am a resident of St Mary Estate of Nakuru county that is off Nakuru -Nairobi highway just two kilometers from the town center. l am married and a graduate of bachelor of commerce. l ventured into business after completing my education two years ago so as to earn a living and support my family.l do sell polythene bags here in Nakuru after l was introduced to the business by my cousin who is in the same business.Apart from doing business l like traveling and reading inspirational books.

My Business

l started the business two years ago and is very viable as the demand is very high because any business person who is in business will at one time wrap the item for the customers hence creating demand for the polythene bags.l buy my stock from wholesalers who are based in Nairobi and retail the bags at a profit margin of 20% which enables me to cover the expenses. There is lot of competition here in Nakuru but in order to sell l make sure that my prices are very competitive and l do sell on discount so as to attract more customers.l am very passionate about the business and l do track my customers so as to know their re-order level and supply them with the stock before its over.my challenge at the moment is having finances to buy more stock and very hopeful that if my application is successful l will be able to expand the business and meet the demands of my customers

Loan Proposal

l do sell polythene bags here in Nakuru.l will buy my stock of polythene bags from wholesalers who are based in Nairobi and retail the bags at a profit margin of 20% which enables me to cover the expenses.Plastic bags are available in bulk purchases at a fraction of a cent per piece. In contrast, paper bags typically cost Ksh 5 or more per piece. In large volume, plastic bags have obvious overhead cost benefits for stores and their profit margins. In addition, plastic bags are quicker to open, pack, and double up than paper bags. While those few seconds may seem nominal, for busy cashiers, this can help keep lines moving efficiently. Plastic bags also require less space than paper bags, both in storage and at cashier stations, and weigh about one-tenth as much. Reusable bags take up the most space, and while their weight varies, they are all considerably heavier than plastic or paper bags.
Conveniently enough, just as retailers have found plastic bags to be a better option than paper, so too have consumers. The numbers speak for themselves: according to the Kenyan Environmental Protection Agency, Kenyans use more than 5 billion plastic shopping bags annually. Plastic grocery bags can be beneficial to retailers and consumers as Retailers have favored plastic shopping bags as long as they have been available-about 50 years. The main advantages of plastic grocery bags are that they are cost-effective, easy to use, and convenient to store.
