I am currently a second year at Chuka university student and a freelance writer doing both academic research papers as well as business articles and this is my story.
I was born in a family of four, my two parents my sister and I in 6th July, 1993. I am the second born even though the two of us are like age mates with a gape of only two years. I can’t say I saw but let me put it this way; I had an experience with my mother for like five months of my life before she passed on 2nd of January, 1994 as am told. Six years later in 2000 when I was to start schooling, my dad also passed on and that is where our life made a U turn.
I have been raised by my aunt since 2001. This is an experience that always gives me a challenge every day and every hour or minutes of my life not because of bad treatment or whatever one may think but because of her age. She was the eldest in our father’s family and right now she is hitting her seventies and her only son sorry to say, is a drunkard and seldom help. That means in most of my stay with her I always have to meet most of my basic wants on my own something that has taught to be self-depended as early as when I was twelve.
I started by making and selling pancakes as well as selling peanuts when I was in class seven in my primary school and that could see me meet most of school needs. I have done that even when I was in high school and from that my sister and I could always buy new text books and anything that we wanted during the holidays. We both sat for the final exams in high school in 2012 but I qualifying for the government sponsorship to the university while my sister didn’t and we had to find a way of making her go to college. We tried several small businesses though the profit was not good enough to guarantee school fee and had to stay out for like two years before joining any college.
But thanks to the Lord, a friend of mine introduced me to freelance writing last year when I was in my second year in the university having seen the hardship I was going through and it has really changed everything in our family. Though still quite a challenge to me but the interesting part is that my sister was able to join a teaching college on January this year just by writing.
It has made me to develop more and more passion in the writing field and right now I have set up a small writing center just some 500m off my campus. In this center, I have decided to put some extra computers which are intended to help needy students who have a passion to write but cannot afford to buy a computer at the moment and I have quite a number of the same cases. I keep praying every day that one day this center which I have called (THE EPITOME WRITING CENTER) will one day grow into a big center to accommodate even some graduates who finish campus but find it hard to get a job due to the alarming rate of unemployment in my country.
I am a freelance writer and I write both academic research papers as well as business articles. I have been in writing since last year, January, 2014. On January this year, I managed to set up the EPITOME WRITING CENTER 500m off my University where I target students who have passion in writing but cannot afford to buy a computer at the moment. Right now I have three extra computers but still I find them not enough since every evening after school I get more than six students who are willing to do at least one page if jobs are available. I operate three writing accounts and in most cases especially during peak season I get papers to write every day. I am looking forward acquiring like three or more computers this year to increase the capacity of writers and I am looking forward for your assistance to achieve that. It is my mission to make the Epitome Writing Center a bigger research center even going country wide.
On income, before setting up this center, I could get like 18,000 KES a month but right now I get more than 38,000KES a month net though the operating expenses are still quite much. With the addition of more computers am quite certain the business will earn quite a reasonable income of more than 40, 000KES a month.
Please kindly help me achieve this mission. Thanks and look forward for positive response.
My main request for this loan is to help me in adding some more computers to increase the capacity of my writing center. I have a small writing (Epitome Writing center) 500m off my university where we write with my fellow students after class. I have three extra desktops but still I find them less since every evening I get like six or more students who wants to write especially when the jobs are highly available during peak season. The challenge is that majority of students are not able to afford laptops but are willing to write.
