About Me

My name is Mariame Drabo. I live in Burkina-Faso in the Hauts-Bassins administrative district, Houet province, in the regional capital Bobo-Dioulasso. I am a mother of 5 children and I work on a cashew processing assembly line. I went to school until about age 13. I have benefitted from training in marketing, negotiation, and also Dioula language literacy. I went into the firewood business with the goal of financially supporting my family’s needs, such as those for food, my children’s schooling, healthcare, and also to bring to fruition certain projects I had in mind.

My Business

My business consists of buying firewood from the surrounding villages in Bobo Dioulasso and reselling it. Wood is a forest product. There are 5 types of wood: wild woods, eucalyptus, teak, melina, and cashew. There is a large demand here in Burkina Faso for wood because many families use it to cook; it is used by beer makers who make a beer called dolo (made from sorghum and millet); and bakeries use it to cook bread. My customers use it because it is a natural, least expensive, and long- option and it is found everywhere in Burkina Faso. My business is profitable because it allows me to make revenue and establish a client base. However, it is essential to note that climate change poses a risk. In this business, I spend 90.000 francs each month in order to take away a profit of 60.000 after expenses.

Loan Proposal

If I am given the chance for another loan with Zidisha, I am going to invest all of it in buying firewood from my various suppliers in order for my shop to be stocked up and then to begin selling what I have bought to my clients. My Business

Mon commerce consiste à payer le bois de chauffe provenant des villages tout autour de la ville de Bobo-Dioulasso et de les revendre.Le bois est un produit forestier ligneux.il y'a 05 types de bois qu sont:le bois sauvage, l'eucalyptus,le teck, le melina et l'anacardier.il y'a une demande importante car ici au Burkina, plusieurs familles utilisent le bois pour la cuisine,les dolotières pour la préparation du dolo, puis les boulangeries pour faire cuire le pain.Les clients l'utilisent car c'est le moyen naturel, moins chère, résistant et on le retrouve partout au Burkina.Mon commerce est rentable car ça me permet de faire des bénéfices et de tisser des relations.Cependant il faut reconnaitre que avec le changement climatique le bois est un risque.A travers cet activité, je peux dépenser par mois une somme de 90000F puis avoir un bénéfice de 60000F.
