My names are ruth nyokabi ,I was born and raised in central province to a family of six members , I went to kiamba girls high school and kamirithu polytechnic.
Am a mother of one kid and i do farming for a living.
After completion of school i did not get a job and was hopeless for months.
I used to accompany my mother to doing labour jobs in a flower processing company and make a little amount of money for upkeep and basic needs.
After some monthys i started saving so to lease a land and do farming, When i had enough in my savings i leased a quater of an acre and planted kales for sale. Unfortunately the harvest was not good and i losed 6,000 kenya shillings which i had spent on farm inputs, I did not lose hope and i tried planting vegatables again.
I made it to making profits and custormers started knowing my place, i now surplly kales to hotels around and food groceries within my home.
i like farming and travelling.
My half an acre farm has been a source of income to me for three years now.
i sell diffrent types of vegatables to hotels and food groceries around my village and center.
I have planted kales in diffrent variety and my harvesting is done in the evenning and delivering in the morning.
i have custormers who come daily and those whom i have orders and deliver to them in rtheir hotels.
Farming is potential in my counrtry and good planning and timming of market prices as made me make sells in time of high prices, I want to expand my farm by a quater an acre so to hit custormers demand and make more profit.
I make upto 1,000 kes a day and use the money to surport my family andnpay bills.
Granted 5,404 kenya shillings i will use it to lease a quater an acre of land which is next to my farm at a cost of 50 us dollars and use 4 us dollars on bush clearing of the farm.
If i increase my farm i will definately increase vegatables production and this will give me more money, i will be able to hit demand which i have not been able to meet for months.
I project a profit increase of 50% which i will user for family upkeep and buying of farm inputs.
