About Me

My name is Kipruto Kiptarus ,commonly known by the nickname Rush.I am 28 years old,We are seven children in the family;three of us are sons while four are daughters,Am the sixtieth born .My father has now retired from 'matatu '(public passengers car)driver, while my mother is a farmer and a herbalist as well, she keeps livestock as well as cultivating a small farm,i use to assist her especially in looking after livestock as well as fetching herbs with her in the forest. Its from her that i gained my interest to do livestock farming as well as studying medicine in a diploma course in pharmacy. I also did my college research project with her help in comparing the herbal medicine to modern medicine in modern world.
I started my farming business on may 2014 with five hens and a cock,I was then in my attachment course in Kabarnet district hospital pursuing a diploma course in pharmacy.its then that I realize I do have a free time during evenings and weekends,I approached my neighbors carpenter and we raised a poultry house ,later in July I bought five more hens and two sheep, august September continues laying and brooding and by October around sixty chicks had been hatched, though so me did not survive due to harsh weather, limited space and improper vaccination.my second lot was more successfully ,I got a ready market sold them and I was able to buy two young bulls and a second hand motorcycle.from then I started admiring this work and was anxious to join Zidisha to share and learn from others and more importantly the financial support.I have been in farming from then 2015 till now 2021.
From my career of pharmacy practice i have also initiated another project of owning a pharmacy shop which is already in place.Am in the process of incooporating farming and pharmacy practice.

My Business

Livestock farming is my business of choice ,i rare cattle bulls for now ,sheep and hens.Am aiming to expand poultry house.Hens have dominated my farm and am glad to strengthen because it has uplifted me to where iam now.Am also looking forward to rare a high breed dairy cows and goats for milk products,i already have a dairy goat thanks to zidisha and lenders and looking forward to have more stock.Besides that I have a motorcycle easing me with my daily needs and transportation of animal outcomes like eggs as well as livestock inputs like chicken feeds.
My business has grown since joining zidisha more so in poultry farm.Besides home consumption of eggs and selling at local centers ,Am now supplying over sixty eggs weekly to various retail shops and hotels in my home town,Kabarnet.I have maintained my poultry in the farm and i have two employees farm looking after poultry and cattle.I also have a part time employee who is taking care of the farm i recently bought and plant bhomarhode grass.
I have also made a downpayment for owning a pharmacy shop and am in the process of making full payment.
I have build a small house and this year 2021 God willing i intend to marry and have a family of my own. Thanks to zidisha innovation and generous lenders for your support.

Loan Proposal

Dear Lenders,Zidisha team and members,Once again iam happy and grateful for the far we've worked together as a team .You've helped me to realize and develop my business. Iam doing good and working extra hard in my livestock business.
I would like to apply for zidisha loan to put up an animal feed store. This will cost $75 to hire and $45 for license both to cover until the end of this year.It will enable me to keep farm feed output as well as sell the surplus to other farmers from that store.
I would use $400 of remaining to purchase animal feeds including; dairy meal, molusses, lick salt, layer mash, grower mash, chick mash, kienyeji mash, broiler mash and farm inputs including milking jars, buckets, feed troughs, drinkers among others.it will enable me to minimize the cost of animal feeds, lower transportation costs and to realize a good profit margin for the sale of surplus of farm output and inputs.
I have a great hope and faith that this business plan will boost and expand my business tremendously.
Thanks so much zidisha team, lenders and members for your continuous and generous support; both financially, your advice and regular updates on business plans and investments. Thanks and God bless you.
