My name is Josephat Okumu. I am the first born in a family of five.I am currently pursuing diploma in agriculture at Bumbe Institute. The college is near our home and so I study and go back home.
After completing secondary school at Odiado secondary school,my dreams of ever joining a tertiary institution were slim since my parents could not afford. I joined other boys in working in a wealthy neighbors farm to earn a living. After working for six months with $28 salary,I could not take it anymore. I had little experience on horticultural crops and I said to myself, that I could also use the family land and get something out of it. I asked my siblings to help me clear one acre of land.since I had no money to hire labor,I tilled the piece of land myself. With the little savings I had,I bought kale's seed and put up a seed bed. I work hard since there was no rain to fetch water from the stream and water my farm,it happened that there was acute shortage of vegetables (kale's) I made sales of $1000 in three months. I was so happy and new farming was equal opportunity employer.
I am a writer and spends a lot of time writing articals ,I am also a motivational speaker and often visit schools and youth groups to encourage my peers to always work smart and do something about there lives.
My name is josephat Okumu ,I am a farmer . I grow kale's,tomatoes and and cabbages. i sell my produce in town and to students of two colleges that are strategically placed near my farm. youth in my area seldom do farming and so the supply of green vegetables and tomatoes is lower than demand, these gives me competitive edge to produce even more.
I choose these business because I had worked at our neighbors farm and saw how much he was making from agriculture, since the climatic conditions were the same i thought it was a good idea to try it out.
my costs are $100 in a month.my revenues in a month are $280. I spend my profits mainly on my school fees and buying food for my family. I for the also save for reinvestment.
Dear lenders, I am asking you to support my loan so that I can replace my irrigation pipes. The current pipes are leaking and hence reducing the pressure making it difficult to irrigate the farm. I intend to buy 200m pipe at cost of $340. I would use the loan to top up and get these vital equipment soonest.thank and nice time.
