About Me

Am Laura from Kenya a wife and a mother of two. Am a nutrition enthusiast and took a course on the same in college.
I have been able to open an organization that works to empower young teenage girls who have become mothers at that tender age. I have programs running in rural part in Migori and Kibera slum in Nairobi.
These girls are empowered economically to become entrepreneurs for job creation rather than job seekers, this in turn cuts down the poverty cycle and the mass tarmacing that we witness in Kenya.

My Business

The pandemic came with alot of distractions to the society. I worked as a school cook and had to stay at home for the whole year without pay. It was even much difficult since I could not travel to Migori to the project site and had the organization come to a temporary closure.
The new year came with so many hopes and positive vibes but unfortunately, I was laid off from work after the first week of reporting to work. The same goes to my husband who also lost his job in September last year. We have been at home with no means for paying our bills. Right now we have the bills waiting for us, rent, school fees and debts to mention a few.
I hope to start a business at the campus site at catholic university in Nairobi that is located behind galleria mall. It's a snack shop and fresh fruit juices and the place is very marketable since students tend to snack alot during school days to save on time. If given a loan of $2000 I will be able to start the business to buy two deep friers, display cupboard that is glass made and powered with electric bulb to keep the snacks such as fries, sausages, and chicken hot, counter tops, wardrobes, freezer, refrigerator and pay for the shop since it requires initial payment for 3months. I will be able to repay the loan fast as the place yields profit well and also I will be able to feed my family and pay my bills with ease. Also, I will be able to run my organization activities with ease and employ some teenage mothers. By this, I will have created an employment opportunity thereby putting a smile on somebody's face! Thank you so much.

Project Proposal

Am requesting a loan to fund my buying of equipment for use in my shop. I want to buy chairs that I will use for my customers to sit on when they come to buy fruits .
