My name is Geoffrey Siocha from Nakuru - Lanet division. I was born and raised up in Kisii County in Kenya.
I grew up in Kisii which is an agricultural zone and is evergreen and fertile. We were introduced to farming at a tender age since our parents were full-time farmers. They practiced both livestock and crop farming in large scale.
I started rabbit farming soon after my secondary school upon arrival in Nakuru. The demand for rabbit meat was high and I spotted an opportunity and went for it.
I keep about 20 rabbits and I am planning to enlarge my current rabbit pen to accommodate about 100 rabbits.
Besides rabbit rearing, I have managed to rear chicken and dairy goats over time. I currently have 200 chickens and two dairy goats.
I have also been able to open a small information center to serve my community. The center has gradually grown with the help of Zidisha. I help to improve computer literacy skills to the members of my community for the betterment of the future since there is a great advancement in technology in our country and beyond.
I currently intend to buy seats that are more comfortable, in my information center, to curb the challenge that I have heard from customer complaints in the recent days
I am happy to note that my rabbit project is stable.
I now want to work on my poultry project whereby I would like to add some feeds for them. I will buy at least three bags of 50kgs feeds.
I rear 200 birds which are layers. I will be able to collect a minimum of 4 trays a day when the hens start laying. I will sell the eggs at 250 shillings per tray which will result to one thousand shillings. The hens will then consume 500 shillings Per day and I will be able able to make 500 shillings in a day.
