About Me

Am a Kenyan lady aged 39 years. Am also a single mother of one boy aged 13 years. I grew up in rural area in Nyeri County and later moved to Kiambu county. I hold a Diploma in Business Ethics & Customer service, certificate in Full Secretarial Course and Computer Application Certificates.

I lost a job 3 years back after a college i was working for closed down. I spent all my savings in paying rents, my son`s school fees and taking care of other bills in the house. I applied for jobs but the only ones i got were sales jobs like in insurance business which was hard to cope with since it was based on commissions only.

I asked one of my brothers to lend me some money so as i could start a business . This when i got in to secondhand clothes selling business. I started as a hawker in town with the city council men harassing me as it is illegal. After some time i got a small shop in town where am sell my sell secondhand clothes to date. If i can get this loan i will expand my business and save for my son`s school fees who is about to join secondary school next year.

I thank God because a good number of people her in Kenya appreciate secondhand clothes because they are not expensive and have good quality.

My son`s dream is to become a scientist/Movie Director when he grows up. I am working had to raise his school fees for secondary school to make his dream a reality.

Out of the hard ship i have gone through in life and praying and believing God to make ways for me , i developed an interest in encouraging single women that with God all things are possible and they should not despite small businesses.

My Business

I sell secondhand clothes for men, ladies and children. I choose to sell second clothes because they are cheap as compared to new ones.

Most people prefer secondhand clothes because they are unique, good quality and affordable. I also opted to sell secondhand clothes because i could easily put some in my hand bag and hawk around in business premises.

I pay for the shop 5,000kshs per month. And my business is able to make a profit of 1000 shillings per day, which i use to pay my rent and school fees.

Loan Proposal

Dear lenders, I am very happy and delighted that my loan application has gotten this far.

I am a mother of one boy and current doing small scale business in the second hand clothing, where I have a stall where I sell an assortment of different types of clothes such as T-shirts, track suits, women dresses and so on.

With the amount of loan that I will get from Zidisha, I plan to give my stall a facelit since the amount is not much but this will attract more customers to shop.

I will buy two tins of paint and a brush and also a dressing mirror that customers will be using when selecting the clothes to buy.

The loan will be as follows 2 tins of paint @ $3 each - $6 and a brush @ $2 and $2 for the mirror.

The total will be $10.

Thank you all and God bless you.

Margaret.
