About Me

I was born in Nyeri, Central Kenya, a village with about 100 households. I was educated in the village up to standard eight and then schooled in Nanyuki up to form four. I was an average student and my father was able to sponsor me to [attend] university, where I undertook a degree in Environmental Studies. I started farming by pumping water from a dam in my home area. There is a high demand for organic food in Nairobi due to high rate of lifestyle diseases. I love to spend time watching nature documentaries, learning new trends, and spending time with friends and family.

I enrolled to pursue a Master's in Renewable Energy Technology, which I have yet to complete and still need to pay for the last two semesters.

My Business

I am a licensed Environmental Associate Expert. I also train in online article and blog writing. I farm and resell farm foods.

I was desperate for work and therefore decided to use whatever resources I had to make profit. My father bought me a half an acre of land. The total cost and revenue are about 60% of the sales. [Through this work] I support my mother, brother, and sisters, and I pay my university fees and invest in SACCOs (Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations). The farming project is a joint venture of me and my sister; we use the profits I get for our basic facilitation, school, and reinvesting in the land. I have also started a side business of importing cotton shirts from China, which has good returns.

The first three semesters of school I used the returns from the farm and the shirts business. Now due to elections that were ongoing (and even now not everything is settled), business has been slow.

Loan Proposal

First of all I would like to appreciate the help you provide those of us in need. I am requesting loan to purchase a larger water pump for my farm. My land is located on the shores of a dam but farming is not easy without an easy water supply. Once I purchase the pump I just connect it and pump water to already set up tanks inside the land. That way food production will increase, I ll pay my masters course school fees, my sister's secondary fee, my mother's basic needs and my sibling's needs. We will in turn have a higher standard living .
