About Me

My names are George Gitau, 38 years old from Kenya. I reside in Kamwangi Estate, approximately 20km west of Thika town. I am a family man with 3 children in primary school. I went to primary school but never proceeded to high school due poverty level in our family by then. For lack of higher education I had to make ends meet by working in constructions site as casual laborer, tending to neighbors cows and also tilling their lands. Although I lacked higher education, I was not limited in thinking. I adopted the culture of savings from my earnings which enabled me join a Polytechnic School where I did a course in carpentry. After completion I was employed as a carpenter and during my 6 years of employment I managed to save enough money to start my own workshop as it had been my dream.
My business is growing everyday, my customers like my fine and pleasant work and a reasonable price I give them and for this reason, I have been receiving orders day in day out. After all what God has done to me I decided to adopt orphans and vulnerable boys whom I offer carpentry training as a way of saying thank you to God and also by giving back to the society.

My Business

I have a carpentry shop in Kamwangi town which I started in 1998 through accumulations of savings from my previous employment. This business entails making and selling of all types of furniture i.e. Sofa sets, Wall units, Wardrobes, Coffee tables, Office desks & chairs, File cabinets, School desks & chairs, Church benches among others.
This shop started from a humble beginning and today I have found favor with many customers due to fine & beautiful furniture I make for them and reasonable price I sell them. I also give my customers standard work unlike my competitors who does substandard work and this has attracted a lot of them in my shop. I have managed to cut short my expenses with 45% by planting trees in my farm and later harvest them for wood work in my shop on the other hand I have reared poultry in my farm and part of the profit I get from their products is used to meet households needs. This has enabled me restock profit to my business and the rest is saved for future projects. My vision is to have my own industry and training centre through which young people and vulnerable in the society will walk in to acquire skills and employment which will enable them realize their dreams.

Loan Proposal

Hello lenders and Zidisha Team, thank you for giving me an opportunity to borrow in this platform. Much thanks for granting me my previous loan which increased my profit margin with approximately 40%.
My business entails making and selling of furniture. My quality work and competitive price has enhanced good relationship with customers and entire community.
I secured an order to make school dinning tables and chair, so if granted this loan it will go along in complementing my capital in acquisition of these materials:-
1). 80 USD will MDF Boards
2). 75 USD will buy nails and rivets
3). 30 USD will buy furnish paints
By acquiring these materials it will reduce the cost from my capital and hence will raise my profit margin with approximately 50%.
Thank you in advance for your support. God
bless you
