About Me

I am a teacher by profession and I own a pre-primary school located in Majengo area of Mombasa city. The Kenya system of education requires that a child undergoes 3 years of pre-primary education at age 3 years before joint class 1 at an age of 6 years.

I was born in Mombasa and I recently graduated from Pwani university doing with a degree of bachelor of education in early childhood. Am the last born in our family. I am married with two sons who are still in school. My husbands helps me in running the school.

I am a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church where I play an active role in church activities. I also participate in community work from time to time.

My Business

My school has a total of one hundred children distributed as follows, Pre unit 3 - 40 children, Pre unit 2 - 30 and Pre unit 1 30 children respectively. Each child pays $35 including a feeding program.

Most of the children come from the nearby slum areas where they are living under poverty that's why a feeding programme is a must. I have employed two teachers who also work as caretakers of their respective classes.

My business has made steady progress over time due to hard work and good will from the surrounding community and of course the support of Zidisha.

Loan Proposal

This is my second loan at Zidisha. I used the first loan to start my school's feeding program and that has improved the quality of education a lot in the school I have always had a desire to start a library where the pupils can borrow books so as to improve their early childhood skills in reading, patters and number work. There is an unused room in the school where I am planning to set up the library.

My budget for the project is as follows

1. 5 Benches to a total cost of $120
2. 20 chairs to a total cost of $80
3. Assorted books for kindergarten pupils at $250
4. Books covering materials at $30.

Upon completion, this library will make a big difference in the the school imparts knowledge to the young minds. I hope and pray that you fund this project.

Thank you.

Dear lenders, The year has started with some financial challenges and I am finding it a bit difficult to raise KEs 500 for now. I kindly ask you to let me lower it to KES 300 until the situation improves. Thank you.

Wow, glad to see some positive movements; I am glad I have jumped from 14% to 41% within a day. Any kind of contribution - big or small will be highly appreciated because it will bring me closer to my goal.

Thank you so much my lenders, I am now at 14% and 4 days left. I believe it is possible to hit 100% before the time expires. I appeal to other lenders to support this program because it will make a big difference in the school. Thank you.

Thank you Zidisha and the lenders at large for this wonderful opportunity you gave us to borrow. I have just finish repaying my second loan here. I am sorry I delayed a number of repayments and this was occasioned by violence that had rocked my area at some point. I am glad the situation went back to normal and I was able to clear my loan.

The loan you gave me in April helped me a great deal in running my pre-primary school. I used the money to buy utensils for my feeding program. This is something I had planned for a long time but due to the competing needs, I was not able to do it.
I now have healthier and happy children in my school and they don’t have to go home for lunch since this is catered for in the school. The local government agreed to supply the dry food to my school in support of my feeding program. My next move is to buy books for my makeshift library where the little ones can borrow books at a very minimal fee.
