About Me

My childhood life was marked by extreme struggle. I went through the education system, through government loans, before securing a contract job as teacher.

My ambition was to nurture a career of my own came into my mind when the teaching contract ended in the private school I served. I decided to nurture my art talent I had identified years back. So I went to art training college, after which I started testing my art appraisal value. I specialized in oil painting, though I also tried some sculpturing. I established myself through missionaries and tourists visiting Kenya. I acquired experience to the level I am today. I have been able to establish a network of customers.

I recently established a gift shop to sell my product and a few more collections from the art community with whom we have shared over the years. I hope the loan will help me build more networks and add more stock in my gift shop. In addition to my desire to succeed in my business, I have connected myself to a local orphanage, where I teach orphans how to identify their talent for survivor.

Through that, I have acquired popularity making my art sell-able. My Facebook art page helps in making customers know what I do. I hope to create my own website in the future.

I was introduced recently to Zidisha and, through the loan I am applying for, I hope to boost my business activities to improve my dependent at family and community level. I have a dream of spreading art skills to others who deserve to make [their] lives bearable.

I believe the Zidisha system is a revolutionary one and would want to be testimony to others who may want to join Zidisha and be an agent of development in their society.

My Business

On a day to day basis, I am busy making new paintings and doing some finishing touches on sculptures and and working on custom orders. I also visit websites that deals with art and post images in order to get new customers.

My newly established shop will serve as a reference point, where friends and customers looking for my product can refer. I have helped many other friends who act as source of artwork when I have less than needed.

When not so busy with art, I tend my small market gardening enterprise, which serves as source of food, and I sell surpluses to the local market. The farming enterprise serves as a back-up and is managed by my family back home. This helps to bring home the relevance of my work in line with our Kikuyu culture in Kenya, where the level of success is determined of how well you tend your land and feed the family.

I chose art because it is where my passion is centered and I do some little farming as back-up when the season is low. During the boom season, I invest some income to farming and works so perfectly to provide for basic necessities. I draw my inspiration from famous artist like Vincent van Gogh.

Loan Proposal

With the 200$ ,i plan to buy one truck of compost manure for my organically grown spinach already planted and this will cost 100$ US.I want to buy also recommended pesticide worth 50$.The remaining 50$ will be used to fund the intensive labor of weeding and harvesting as well as nurturing others coming up in my continuous production.
The loan will be a big boost because my horticultural farming forms the background means of livelihood for me and my family.I also engage the services of laborers therefore creating employment as well as plugging the gap of the growing need of organically grown vegetables.
I make 60 $ to 80$ bi -monthly income which after deduction leaves me with at least 100$ ,depending on the outcome.

My Business

Am currently involved in both farming and painting that i sell to some selected stalls in the downtown or through several available openings through internet.Because of changing taste of consumers ,i have lately engaged more in farming activities specializing in horticultural crops that i later seek supply tenders from many wholesale dealers in the downtown. The chemical free farming that am particularly interested in have highly gained demand and some herbs like basil ,parsley ,coriander are proving important according to ministry of health campaign for improved health.
I chose this business because i have what it takes and it can help m y family in both income generation and direct use.
The seeds are available in the local and international outlets for the exotic seeds and comparing the input and output there is wide gain.We supply monthly ,and we make sure we plant all the time.We need tank to be busy during the dry season coming.
There are times the business is low and the weather unfavorable but the two engagement compliment one another.Am able to go out and promote my work when in my shop the sale is low.
The profit i have bee generating this time goes towards the cost of education of our children ,and erecting new means of improved production.
