About Me

I am Rose Atieno, I am the 1st born among 7 siblings (3 girls and 4 boys) I was born in 1986 and my father died when I was 15 years old. We re brought up by our mother who is a small-scale fish trader in Kisui beach of Mbita sub-county, Kenya.

My early life was not easy, though my mother tried as much as she can to provide food for the family. I dropped from school in class 7 due to early pregnancy and did not continue with my studies. My husband is a fisherman and our marriage has been blessed with 6 children all are going to school.

I am doing business to raise money to help my husband in paying school fee for our children and meet daily family financial obligations. In my free time I do participate in community development forums.

My Business

My business involves selling of dried fish (omena) that is being used as a human and dairy food. I started the business 4 years ago using the little money (KES 2,000) that I borrowed from a women group that I am a member. This money helped alot and now the business is doing very well though it faces certain limitations that can be easily overcomed if a proper capital is injected in the business.

I need a loan of KES 9,120 to enable buy various types of fish for re-selling. Mbita is a fishing community and communities all over Kenya are coming to Mbita to seek fish. My business is strategically located and with a good capital it will really grow and expand.

When sales are good, I do make a profit of KES15,000 on a monthly basis and with the introduction of fresh Fish, I target the sales to rise upto KES 19,000. Profits made will be used to repay the loan.

Loan Proposal

Dear lenders and ZIDISHA team I wish to thank you for accepting me as ZIDISHA borrower and creating this noble platform for borrowing. I am currently supplying a local high school with food and a loan of KES 9,120 will assist me deliver the fish commodity on time.

If loaned, I will use KES 6,500 to buy fresh fish and the rest KES 2,500 will pay the preservation and transportation costs. This will help in delivering the fresh fish in time and also increase my profit margin by 35% on a weekly basis. I look forward to repaying the loan on time so that lenders can have trust on my business.
