About Me

My name is Evans Kanja. I was born in Kiambu county near Nairobi in a family of 6 where I am the 4th born. I lost my parents at an early age and I was brought up by my uncle who took care of my upkeep. I went to school for my primary and later secondary school in the same area and later did a diploma course in printing where I graduated in 1989 as a printer.

I later relocated to Mombasa, where I got employed at a printing firm until 2001 when I left on my own volition to start my own business.

I am married with 4 children (all boys) all who are in school. I am a self-made hard working person. These qualities have made me grow my business to the level it h as reached today.

My Business

I run a small printing press in Mombasa town. I have wide client base ranging from schools, hospitals and government institutions. I deal with all kinds of publications such as office stationery, magazines and journals, promotional posters/banners etc.

My firm employs 2 permanent workers and 2 casuals. However, the number of casuals goes up when we are very busy. My average net income per month about $350. Though my business is doing relatively well, I do face some challenges, key among them lack of adequate capital to expand. Getting credit locally for small enterprises such as mine is very difficult since banks and other lending institutions prefer dealing with large companies.

With this loan I am seeking an entry point to Zidisha with an aim of ultimately getting large credit to buy a cutting machine which costs about $3,000. In the meantime if given the $150 loan, I will use the money to replace my comb binder which will cost $200.00. This loan combined with my savings will be enough to buy the binder.

I get a continuous flow of clients daily, I will be able to repay the loan comfortably as stated in the repayment schedule.

Thank you.

Loan Proposal

With this loan of $150 I plan to buy a comb binder. This is a machine that is used to spiral binding which is very popular with college students and company profiles. My business is located in Mombasa town where there is large population of students and offices.

I am very sure that this is a good investment and I am sure I will get good returns on my investment.
