About Me

I am Onyango John Kaseme, a Kenyan citizen aged 37 years old. I am the 1st born in a family of 9 (1 girl and 8 boys). I was brought up from a humble background with lots of life challenges pertaining access to basic needs like education, food and medical.

My father was a forester and I learn't environmental management techniques especially tree seedlings preservation and planting from him as he worked in the Goverment Tree Seedlings Scheme in Mbita. I successfully did my secondary education and joined Environmental Management College where I studied Botany. Upon completion of my college education, I got married and ventured in tree nursery business. I love beautification of environment(landscaping) and improving forest cover in order to combat climate change.

I like playing football when am free to break the boredom and monotony of my activity as well as relieving my minds from stress to expound my critical thinking pertaining on my area of specialization

My Business

I started tree nursery business six months ago, the business has been so well and I have started to get a very good and reliable clients base.

Basically I focus myself in provision of seedlings of different varieties for afforestation and landscaping to various sectors including local public primary schools and churches. During the rainy seasons I normally go round to asses the progress of my goods at various places

From my tree nursery I sell upto 800 trees on average per day . This amounts to a monthly income of KES 25,000. I have many customers because I have the best of what they need. I put alot of effort in my work , moreso sell to them indigenous trees which are in great demand. I water the seedlings with the water I pump directly from Lake Victoria . Repaying the loan will be easy for me because in the same piece of land i grow maize of my own while during dry season we harvest dry them and sell.

Loan Proposal

I am seeking a loan of KES 14,928 to enable me purchase the following items;
-Irrigation horse pipes =Ksh 3,500
-Seedlings = Ksh 3,000
-Pesticides and insecticides =Ksh 3,500
-Fertilizers =Ksh 3,000
-Hire an additional worker =Ksh 928

This will enable me to expand on my business as well as creating employment to my fellow friends.

With improved and quality production that enhances technology, I expect my returns to double and skyrocket as well as attracting more people to experience their needs.

Disbursed money will be used to buy 2 watering plastic cans, some quantities of various types of seeds,2 packets of growth hormone,4 kg of neem seeds, adding more mango scions, packets of potting tubes and other required nursery materials. All these nursery materials will boost income of nursery, improve family living standard, school fees paid for children going to school and upgrade mode of thinking. Thank you very.

I'm sorry to hear about the problem; however, the Zidisha Team: www.zidisha.org/team (a.k.a. "the Staff) almost never visits the
borrower-lender Discussion page of any individual borrower, so the only ways to send them a note that they'd be likely to see would be through the HELP link in your account or, since you said you can't due that, apparently because of a technical problem affecting your account, have someone else you know who's a Zidisha borrower send a note to them for you via the
HELP link in their account (make sure they include a link to your Zidisha profile). Then, be very patient, as there currently are only two (2) people on the Zidisha Team (Staff), while there are hundreds of thousands of Zidisha members they try to serve.

Hello zidisha team and lenders. Thank you so much for supporting me financially, my family and my tree nursery.I am very sorry for not paying loan in time. This happened because some county council askaries hired by a private developer who bought the entire plot destroyed my seedlings, materials and removed my tree nursery. This affected my financial status, lives of family affected and state of payment of loan also interfered with. With the good rainfall, production of seedlings increased, sales of some seedlings also done well and this aided me to finish loan balance.Thank you so much zidisha team and my good lenders.

Thank you so much Laurie.A political and economical greedy capitalist, private developer attacked my tree nursery and destroyed my seedlings. Most of these seedlings were thrown in the lake and roughed me up like astray dog.I was feeble and I could not fight back. Fortunately God blessed me with a new site with adequate water, forester also gave me some tubes, materials and good quantities of seeds of various trees to begin with. I started buying some good seedlings from other government tree nursery and reselling them to make profit. There is adequate rainfall and good demand for grafted mango and citrus seedlings. I had already started paying as scheduled with the aim of completing my balance with ZIDISHA and improving my tree nursery. Thanks for being patience and I am eager to settle all arrears and increase good relationship with my lenders and entire ZIDISHA team. Thank you.

I'm very sorry to hear about what you went through, John.

Re: "...roughed me up like a stray dog...", not even a stray dog ever should be roughed up. I cannot stand violence, most especially against someone in a weaker position.

You know, I'm a very liberal progressive in most things, but one of the areas I'm the opposite is when it comes to ridding society of individuals and groups who with greed and/or malice in their hearts inflict harm on others such as what happened to you. Anyone who creates fear in others like that, or who spies or who does any other underhanded thing that causes ongoing fear, such as gaslighting or other types of bullying, I think the death sentence should be imposed immediately and I think it should be carried out immediately upon sentencing, in cases where there is zero doubt about who the perpetrators are. (It should be carried out in a humane manner, though, with two-shot euthanasia, such as other animals are allowed when terminally ill, for example. And, in a way, IMHO, these people are terminally ill.) Unfortunately, though, there isn't any legal way to impose that sentence immediately, and even if eventually imposed, judges don't have the option to have such sentencing carried out immediately, or even to apply that sentence in some cases.

In any event, my reasoning is threefold: (1) nobody would have to be afraid of those individuals anymore; (2) the world is already overpopulated (see info about that on my profile page) and better to keep only people around who are good, kindhearted people (even some Mafiosos are kindhearted to their blood relatives or to their close friends, but that does not make them good people); and (3) we are spiritual beings, and the fastest way for soul growth to occur is to return Home where a much broader perspective is experienced for the soul to realize and understand errors made. I don't think in terms of punishment, but rather in terms of "they know not what they do" and they need to learn, and for most such types that's not likely to happen here on this Earth. I also think in terms of protecting former and future victims. Some say the death sentence doesn't deter crime, overall. Well, I say at least it does deter some crime, to the extent that those particular individuals would not ever again be doing the evil that they've done.

As you might guess, I'd never be selected for jury duty in any criminal case, lol. ;)

You're in my prayers, John, for your tree nursery to succeed, and for you to have peace.

      Kind regards,
      Laurie

My tree nursery was destroyed by town council personnel and forcibly moved from original site to a new place because of a greedy private developer who bribed his ways to steal the land.I'm very sorry for not paying as scheduled.

I'm sorry to hear about this, John. Good for you, though, for the courage to call a spade a spade. And don't worry, karma will catch up with them, eventually. Don't do anything to harm them. Let the universe take care of the karma. It will. Nobody ever gets away with malicious intent toward others (including toward the environment) forever. Nobody ever gets away with greed forever, either. Karma will catch up with them. In the meantime, just keep on keeping on, the best that you can, growing trees and maintaining goodwill in your heart and good stewardship of the planet, as best as you can each day. (When you can, you may want to read my profile page.) You have my respect far more than any greedy developer or any other greedy person ever would.

      Kind regards,
      Laurie

John, are you able at least to make a small partial payment? If you make a small partial payment (even if only the equivalent of $1), I think the system would then allow you to reschedule again with a smaller installment amount.

It's much better to pay something on the due date or within the ten-day grace period after the due date (for the payment to be considered on time) than to skip any scheduled installments.

Keep in mind, too, that at Zidisha, only on-time and late payments go into the calculation of the on-time repayment score. It's important always to pay on time (as defined above) and never to pay early or late. Then, your on-time repayment score would rise (and after it reaches 90%, then you would qualify for a credit-limit increase for your next loan).

      Best wishes,
      Laurie

At this time ,seedlings are not adequately sold due to intensity of drought thus less sales.School fees are also required to be paid for the children.Lastly, after motorcycle accident in the course of last year, i am trying to start nursery activities again .All the arrears will be paid well.

I would like to reduce rate of payment because there are less sales of tree seedlings due continued drought intensity and most of these seedlings are still small and tender. Thanks ZIDISHA team.
