My name is Mary chepkemei, i was brought up in Eldoret Town where i also happened to get educated. I schooled at Hill school primary school and joined Moi girl high school. After completing school, i was faced with a big challenge because i lost my father the same year. My dream of pursuing high education was cut short, i was thus forced to engage myself into an income generating activity.
My mother who was doing business in town was the only person left behind to take care of us and also provide for us. Being the first born i had to assume the role of now being responsible. I helped my mother in running her business for almost three years as she took care of other business outside the shop.
I was engaged to a man who married me because my time was due. I started now my business the same year i got married with the help of my husband and also my mother. I opened up a boutique in town where i sale ladies clothes and school uniforms. What i find unique in our land is the fact that many ladies don't believe in doing business. Many of them opt to be house wifes as opposed to being engaged in business. This challenged me and i thus opted to compete with other men in the competitive business market.
I have two kids, a boy and girl. The boy is in class seven and the girl in class 3.
I own a boutique or rather a beauty shop in town where i sale ladies clothings, handbags, make ups, nail Polish and school uniforms for primary children.
This goods that i offer are useful because they help cloth the ladies and make them look good. On the other hand the uniforms that i sale is important because tbey help keep our children in school look neat and also able to concentrate and compete with other students that is basically the importance of the services that i offer. It is on demand on the other hand because my shop is well positioned in town. I use the profits that i get to educate my children, support my family and also grow my business.
Given the loan, i will use the money to do a renovation of my boutique, this will cost me 50 us dollars. I will do shelving to keep my stock well and in order, i will do painting to make the place look good and attract customers. I will benefit from this exercise because with the renovation i can be able to attract more customers into my premise and make an increase in my income. I believe that my profit margin will go up from 40 Us dollars on a good day to almost 70 us dollars
