About Me

MY STORY
My name is Serwaa Monica and my parents are Mr and Mrs Manu. We all come from Drobo, but I live at Berekum in the Brong Ahafo region of Ghana.

I commenced my elementary school at Adiokor M/A primary school. Unfortunately, my parents encountered some casualties and later got divorced. At class six, things were difficult for my mother, so I had to leave and stay with my father, who was then in Boodi in the Western region of Ghana. Indeed I completed Junior High School in the fourth year.

After J.H.S, I could not continue with my studies due to the negative impact of my parents' separation, which affected the payment of my fees. Here I was sent to Berekum to live with a relative and learn a trade, thus [I began to learn] tailoring. Later I could not afford my apprenticeship fee so I quit.

A generous neighbor helped me with an amount to start a business. I took to the selling of ornaments on retail from house to house.

I like reading and watching movies.

My Business

MY BUSINESS
As I have made myself known to you earlier, I began my business in the middle of 2012. It is a house-to-house retail sale.

I sell ornaments such as earrings, necklaces, watches, beads and other commodities such as combs, mirrors, lip gloss, knives and the like. As a matter of fact, these commodities are in high demand and therefore my percentage profit is about 14%.

I took this job because humans cannot do away with fashion. To this effect, I wish to bring such attractive materials to their doorsteps in order to save them the time and energy of going to the market to buy them.

Loan Proposal

LOAN TO EXPAND MY BUSINESS
As you are already aware of my business which was started in the mid 2012, which is in high demand, I need to make a difference from the lot who have trooped into this job.

The competition in this business is so high that a seller always needs new commodities to attract customers. Besides, the capital I started with was only 400 cedis ($105) so I could not purchase a lot of commodities. Due to Zidisha, I have been able to expand my business to a reasonable level but not to [my] expectation.

To this effect, the percentage profit I make is only twenty percent. However, I am pleading to the proud lenders of Zidisha to grant me a loan of about 260 dollars to purchase new set of wristwatches to expand my business.

I pray you that my request meets your kindest consideration. Thank you.
