About Me

I am the first born in a family of four children under a single mother since our father died when we were very young and our mother brought us up. The rest of my family stays in a remote village in Homa Bay County. I grew up in Mbita Sub County, where I studied through primary school and High school.

My early life was very difficult, I did not proceed to college after my High School, since my mother could not afford to raise College education fees, I got married at a very tender age and did not live with my husband for long, he died 19 years ago when were two years old in marriage and left me with one baby (son) who has now joined College. I am the sole breadwinner for my family at the moment, I got 3 other kids from another man who inherited me after my husband death according to our Luo culture.

I am a fresh fruit vendor. I buy fruits from the nearest market and sell on a daily basis. The funds raised go into ensuring the continuity of my business and the profits are used to pay for my children's education.

I am very active in community development issues and I am representing our village in the Local Authority Development Board as the Secretary. My hobbies are singing and consoling the bereaved.

My Business

I trade on fresh fruits; mangoes, passion, pineapples, oranges and avocados. Most people prefer blended fruit juices due to the health benefits related to it. I chose this kind of businesses because their is a guarantee of sales on a daily basis. A batch of fruits I use on a single day costs 800 shillings. After sales I make 700 shillings per day. The profits go into my children's schooling. I wish to expand my business to be using fruits of about 2,000 Kenya Shillings, and estimate revenue after sales to be 4,000 daily. I also wish to expand my business and hopefully employ a few other people as the business grows so that I can serve my clients efficiently and on time.

Loan Proposal

I am seeking to raise funds to grow my business and make it more sustainable. The loan fund of KES 15,017 will go into adding my fruits stock size The benefit will be increased sales and a probable growth in profit margins of between 1,000-1,800 KES. With the growth of the business, I can be able to employ a few other young
ladies who are unemployed.
