I am Mlillicent Achieng Ogutu Okech, I was born on 24th May, 1986 as the 2nd born among 5 siblings. My parents were peasant farmers and my father died when I was 11 years old and left me with my mother that brought us up. I joined Ngege Primary School where I successfully completed my primary education and joined Ulanda Girl's High School and sat for my Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in the year 2002.
Upon completion of my High School, I did not proceed to College due to lack of funds and the ill health of my mother really affected my dream of becoming a Nurse. I therefore opted for marriage and I got married. God has blessed our marriage with 3 children ( the 1st born is in grade 6, 2nd born is in grade 5 and the last born is in grade 4). My children are very bright in school are doing quite in extra-curricular activities too.
My husband is unemployed and he is assisting me in my fruits & fresh vegetables stall in Mbita Town. The business is doing well and is the source of our livelihood.
In my free time, I am helping with Church cleaning activities, My hobbies are singing and visiting places.
I am a small scale fruits & fresh vegetables trader, mostly selling to the ultimate consumer as my business has not expanded enough to make me a supplier.
I mostly trade in beans, green grams, kales, tomatoes, onions, mangoes, avocadoes, paw paw, peas among other fruits. The target group for such kind of commodities is virtually everyone.
My monthly revenue is averagely US$ 120 and comes purely from selling the fresh fruits, vegetables and green grams. My monthly costs go up to averagely US$80.Giving me a profit around the neighborhood of US$ 40 per month. The profits I get from the business goes towards meeting family's expenses and repaying the loan.
I need a loan of KES 9,653 to buy the following green harvest for sale;
-KES 3,000 to buy 2 crates of onions for sale
-KES 2,500 to buy 1 crate of tomatoes for sale
-KES 3,500 to buy 20 Kgs of kales (Sukuma wiki) for sale
-KES 653 assorted mangoes, paw paw for sale
I will make a total of KES 4,000 profit per week x 4 weeks = 16,000. The loan from ZIDISHA will enable me to expand the business and repay the loan on time while meeting my family financial needs.
