About Me

My name is Jemutai Rutto. I am from a small town called Kabartonjo in the Rift valley. I was born in 1972 and the eldest in a family of six girls and two boys. I studied at Moi primary school Kabartonjo and proceeded to Pemwai secondary school. My dad, a bread winner by then, passed on due to heart related complications and I had to drop out of school due to lack of school fees. I met my loving husband in 1991 and we had our eldest daughter who introduced me to Zidisha. At first I thought it was a pyramid scheme but then when Zidisha sent her the first loan it all became true and it was like a miracle. I have three kids in secondary school and one at the university. My husband pays all their school fees which is a little bit challenging but he somehow manages it. My eldest daughter is paying her school fees by herself. I really hope all my kids will be successful one day and follow in the footsteps of there big sister. I love seeing other people succeed and helping them where I can and even though I did not make it in the education sector I believe that one day all my my dreams will come true through my kids.

My Business

My business is about home supplies with other combinations that help my family and I survive and still save some money. I rented a small farm and planted tomatoes, onions and vegetables which I sell during the day by going house to house. The net profit is about ksh 10000, I save khs 1500 and the rest is used for food and other home demands. Also, in the evenings from 5pm to around 8pm I sell ground nuts and roasted maize and earn about ksh 600 per day which I use to purchase clothes and shoes for my kids.

Loan Proposal

I have always been dreaming of one day having a cup board for my house but it seemed like an impossible furniture as they are so expensive.Today I gladly announce that Zidisha has made it possible for me.I really thank God for my lenders and the founder at large.I have seen light in my business because of you.I will use about $170 to purchase the cup board and the remaining amount will be for boosting my business
